Round 8: the Epiphany Cross Dive games.

Peter Daicos outraged by the umps. OMG. If he only knew.
The worst part of him having sons drafted is we have to see and hear him all the time again.

Can't stand the c***, never have.

The Blues lack leg speed in the middle of the park.

That’s why Daicos tore them a new one.

Hmm, watched the last part of the 3rd quarter and all of the last quarter.

Exciting? Well, yes. Carlton showed some resilience in slotting a couple of goals after Collingwood seemed to get off the leash at the start of the last.

Geez, Collingwood players are always everywhere, the outnumber, the number of players around the ball all the time is just a bit ridiculous. Carlton desperately dump kicking it out of defence always found a Collingwood player as they were just waiting. They were also very good at finding just a little bit of space in their forward line to score.

Trouble is, with the abolition of the Holding the Man rule in practice if not in the rule book, what this leads to is a very ugly game of football. So congested. Especially late in the third quarter it was continual kicking to a contest where just about every player was being held. There was a great spoil from the side, I think it was Pittonet, in the forward pocket in the last quarter, but when they showed another angle he only just made it to the contest because, you guessed it, he was being held back by a Collingwood player. At every stoppage multiple players were being held so the game was very scrappy as no player could get a clear chance to gather the ball, let alone a clean possession.

This from 2 of the better teams in the competition.

What a mess our once great game has become.

Yeah he's a goose, but I don't mind him, I love to hate him I suppose. Saw him destroy the Tiges a couple of times. If he didn't exist we'd have to invent him. Gotta admit, I can't think of any Richmond equivalent mouthy ex star players, gentleman Roachy, Jimmy Jess and co are all the quietly spoken polar opposite, thankfully.

Lachie Sullivan can play.
X2 b&f Footscray vfl..3rd in Liston.
Hard at it small midfielder...Umm Lambert like.....we desperately needed him.
There are good players in the vfl...why did we miss him?
Yep, came on in the 2nd half, looked like he fitted (reminded me of ex Collingwood player Taylor Adams) had 10 possessions (6k, 4hb), kicked 1.1. From the VFL hey? Who’d a think there’s blokes running around there that can slot in at AFL level……

Speaks weird at pressers.
He really does, a few weird ones this year, he seems pretty peak Bomber Thompson at times. But if if you're winning close games its charmingly idiosyncratic, if you're losing its unsettlingly strange

His boy was superb tonight. His best game I reckon.

Yeah, he was great tonight. And there's no denying snr was a great player.

I'm saying - it is possible to be proud of your son and not carry on like a total bellend.

Hard to cop when you've just been done by a goal, I suppose! 🤣

I didn't see the carry-on. You're always a good sport, BB. Are you sure you're a Carlton supporter?

My wife, usually silent during games (while I’m yelling obscenities at the tv) raised her voice and said she’s sick of the “Daicos dad’s antics.”

A number of Carlton players are so slow, not just in leg speed but in the mind. Take too long to dispose of the ball and invite pressure. Some real bonehead plays in the final quarter but that’s pressure I suppose.
That one by Hewitt late in the game, at a crucial moment from the centre. Hewitt. even slower of mind that in action, fails to realise he's hot, refuses to HB to a team-mate running away from him towards their FL. Caught, HTB, terible turnover. Just a footballer who does not comprehend his limitations.

Easy to see the Bloos core of quality players, but Cincotta, Cottrel, Cowan, Cunningham, Durdin, Fantasia, Kennedy, owies, Williams, Young all basically vary from just above average at their best, to way below average generally, or when it really matters. Include Hewitt.

Just too many below par to ever win a flag. They win most of the key stats like Ds, CPs and UPs, Ms, CMs. Mi50, but smashed by Skunks for tackles, Ti50, TOs but most of all lose i50s badly. Skunks move the ball into their FL so much easier to create chances although their FL was not as good as Bloos, once they ever got it in there.

Bloos ball movement so static, slow and inefficient - just bomb down the line continually. Skunks far more dynamic and much higher pressure.
