Round 6: the herniated disc games.

Funny, every year the AFL can find new rules, introduce new interpretations, have clamp downs on this, clamp downs on that.

But it can’t (read won’t) do a single ***** thing about blatant throwing that has been rife in the game for a number of years.

As I said on the night, the one from Treloar was just outrageous.

We’ve got four of these duds out there now - and that’s what they are DUDS - and yet not one of them could make a call on that Treloar underarm throw or a host of other throws on the night either.

I’ve never seen anything like that game on Friday night. It was completely against the intent of what Australian Rules Football is supposed to be.

Then again, we’ve got a corrupted, dishonest, agenda driven AFL running the game so what should we expect.

Love ANZAC Day. The meaning, the ceremonies, the poignancy. But if there’s one thing I’ve never been able to take to it’s the game between Essendon and Collingwood. I dislike both clubs and their fans too much to have any investment in the game what so ever. In fact, I rarely watch the game and if I do, it’s usually just bits and pieces.

Dunno why but I’d rather see just about any other match up - even Cwood v Carlton. Weird.

Just no interest in watching these two play each year. Brings the day down a bit for me.

I’d rather it be the grand final rematch. That shares the occasion around, but in saying that, there’s never a guarantee that it would be good game

What made that idiot Sheedy come up with Scumwood as the opposition team? Surely, he would've known his old team, us, had a big enough supporter base.....especially as we were getting better through Swooper from 1993.

Why bother? Richmond, Collingwood, Essendon, and in their home states West Coast, Adelaide, these are teams with big supporter bases and a headline will garner interest.

South Melbourne/Sydney, not so much.

We should embrace the scrutiny which comes with being a big club.

It annoys the crap out of me when they read accolades for past Pies and Bombers players and mention how many Anzac Day medals they have won. It's a bloody home and away match.

The same chick that did it last night. Outstanding. Level up from Advance Australia Fair which was ok, but that NZAC girl just crushed it.

Love the Kiwi national anthem, puts ours to shame.

Hmm, not sure about that although being sung in both Maori and English is good.

That said, our national anthem, geez it is a shocker.

Then there's the verse we never mention:

When gallant Cook from Albion sailed,
To trace wide oceans o'er,
True British courage bore him on,
Til he landed on our shore.
Then here he raised Old England's flag,
The standard of the brave;
"With all her faults we love her still"
"Britannia rules the wave."
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia fair.

More verses here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance_Australia_Fair

Can we get something better? That song is simply awful, but a lot of national anthems are awful so I suppose why not?

DS

PS: agree on the woman singing the NZ anthem, clearly a trained voice but also very good voice. Can actually hold notes!

The Kiwi anthem is a ripper. It fires you up, ours puts you to sleep

The singer was great, but its just a far superior song.
