Round 6 Changes verses the Dees - ANZAC eve

Great to see Rioli named, a disruptor midfielder forward.
Balta must play back, if Soldo is out.
Riley was promising in the VFL.
If, and it looks likely, who will kick goals for us? Balta back that is.
Jack is only a shadow of his former self and Lynch has hardly been on fire.
So, who kicks goals for us?

So, who kicks goals for us?
The BBC...... BakerBoltonCastagna ..... 4 a piece with a couple each from JacknTom.... 16 goals 4 behinds... simple!
Tigers by 18 points....
Dynasty defining game..... ours continues, there's never starts!

*smile* this stuff is easy to write :)

Parker needs a rest. His intensity is welcome but sometimes it gets the better of him.

My four of the 8 named: Bolton, Mansell, Graham and RCD / MRJ.

But in a way i kinda hope there's a debut like Sonsie or Banks.

I know where players are named means nothing these days but seeing castagna named in the fields with Shai on the bench is about as perplexing as seen.

It wouldn’t surprise me if dimma debuted banks to show him what level to aim for on a wing.

Balta back? I would’ve thought with Lever out there’s an opportunity for the 3 tall fwds.
Agree, I wouldn't start with it. It's there if we need to use it. They have 3 tall forwards in Brown, Weideman and McDonald. Brown is the tallest but we know he's a one trick pony. Put body pressure on him and he is out of the contest. Then you have Fritcsh you plays taller. Tarrant, Gibcus, Broad and Vlastuin will have to play on these 4. Mansell will need to play on Pickett. That means Rioli, Short, wingers and mids will need to work hard defensively to clog up space and help on transition.

With lever out i reckon McDonald will play back like he has done in some games this year. If so:

Brown - Tarrant
Weiderman - Gibcus
Fritsch - Broad
Pickett - Rioli/Mansell

The issue comes when Gawn/Jackson go fwd. then our hands might be forced with Noah depending on the state of the game.

If :

Parker and Ross play
Riewoldt, Lynch and Balta all start forward
Soldo and Lambert miss
Pickett is injured
Stack is ignored
Gibcus and Tarrant are the tall lock downs
Grimes is still 1-2 away
Graham and Edwards are midfield pillars

Then we are 1000-1 and team selection is waaay too conservative.

Pickett - Rioli/Mansell thats a great match up .worth the ticket by itself

Sonie ...he hasn't done a preseason ........he is just getting through games based on his skills level/IQ

Unfortunately hamstrung by injuries and unavailability this week.

In the end, Melbourne are a better side than us, and were probably going to beat us with any side we selected, bar one with Dusty in it.

Melbourne are playing like us in 2018. They would have to drop the match for us to pinch it. The shame is with the selected side, we may not even be able to pinch it.

I was weirdly optimistic before selection, but I envisioned Stack, Lambo, Pickett, Soldo etc.

The good news is, we can do a mini reset either before or after the West Coast game.

I don't think we'll lose a game between rounds 7 and 14.

Agree. Pinching it was our only chance but that required structural stability (Soldo) and a dash of inspiration (Stack).

Pickett sucked Mansell in a couple of times last year for some soft free kicks, he'd need to watch this, and play smarter, if he plays.

Playing Parker is like turning back the clock when were bereft of young talent. We dont lack that now.

If Parker gets another gig this week then the match committee are doing this to save a blow out and not win the game.
