Round 5 other games

Essendon looked like a cowboy riding a runaway unbroken stallion without his feet in the stirrups.
The ball slinging forward without control, any slip and it would be face meet mud.
Like a loose unbridled version of Richmond 2017. Mcernan is a spuddy version of a duck

Yep, their deep forwards were near useless; hardly anyone could take an overhead contested mark except possibly Stringer. But Townsend really makes a difference. I agree with your points and accurate similes.

BTW, everyone! Just realised tonight there is one truly fantastic thing about Lockdown Night footy with no crowds at the G.

NO *smile* SEAGULLS BLOCKING YOUR VIEW OF THE BALL!!

Collingwood have an odd game setup.
All out attack for 1Q, then hold and stooge for the rest.
Cant get the balance right, can only attack when they play allout and nothing to lose. But once they get a few goals up that energy is gone.

We are having similar issues of intensity for the whole match. Its odd because the shorter quarters should be easier to stay switched on.

Just have a look at the bloke coaching them.
They have a Premier ruckman, that dosent help them get an clear advantage (only against Footscray)
They have a Good midfield with Penderbury Adams Degoey.
And a very good defence with Moore, Showbag and Roughead.
Seriously, how many quality players does this peanut need to have any success??
He isn't a coaches ass hole.

How good to watch Towner go well? Geez he’s an easy footballer to like. Great impact on the game without a lot of touches.

He was sent to Moore to keep him quite and once again he did his job.
Only 4 marks to moore along with 11 possessions.
Packbuster laid 7 tackles.
That's how many tackles Essendon made in the entire 2019

Listen to him being interviewed. He sounds like a corporate apologist after 4 quarters of negative growth. I hope he coaches them for another 10 years.

my takes on the Peroxides v Peptides:

Grundy gets looked after, but then again so do most of the 'chuckers'.
De Goey is overrated, he's loose in the head
Pies are very fragile sulks
Fat Bum Stringer played a good game, as did Towner and Tippo

Merely touching Grundy in a ruck contest results in a free. Meanwhile he can do whatever he wants and its play on.

Did you see Treloar's chuck in the defensive goalsquare? Play on lads. Yet we will pay them a free for a dangerous tackle in front of goal when no sling, no head contact etc

Need to allow them some time to bed down new strategies. Richmond didn’t look like premiers in mid-2017. Not saying Essendon will win it but it wouldn’t surprise if they go further than last year. Ridley looks to be a find.

Toooo many holes.
Laveedayeee, Langford, Geelson, Zaharakis, Redman, Ham seriously they would struggle to get a game with Werribee.
Collingwood can't play in the wet.
He has been there for close to 10 years and he still hasn't given them a plan to play when it's raining.
What a doofus

No doubt the Bombers were on the wrong end of the stick with the umps in the last quarter.

But it was impressive the way they just got on with it and won the bloody game anyway.

The way we're going, we would have given away 50m penalties left, right and centre.

The umps are only human, they make mistakes.

Kudos to Essendon for copping it and not losing their collective rag.

Collingwood has approached the AFL and requested they want a roof on the MCG. Or at worse they want to wear rain coats.
Magpie's don't like the rain :rotfl1
*Preliminary final loss in the Rain
*Us last year in the Rain, massive slapping.

Nothing better than waking up to a Mudpies loss.

Sack the coach!!

The umps did their best to help them as well with a huge differential in frees.

They seem never to make a mistake umpiring Collingwood.
What was the free kick to Brown for? Castagna cops 10 a game and never gets a free kick.
The throw against Treloar, the umpire was on the right side to see the throw.
The cheap free kicks Grundy gets.
Advantaged called when everyone has stopped and people are still wondering why was there a free kick rewarded in first place.
Hopefully Cornes & Lloyd highlight the free kicks Grundy gets and the constant dropping of the ball by Collingwood player's and soon as they receive any contact.
Perfect example of 'dropping the ball' was Shield's goal. Adams takes the ball from the stoppage as soon as he is touched, he throws the ball away and then its picked by Shield who snaps a goal. Pity it should've been a free kick for dropping the ball.

They should be questioning the decision to sign Grundy to 7 years and on big dollars.
When clearly all you need to stop him is just another ordinary spare part Ruckman.

Poor old Crispy.
The steak knive's deal looked the part last night.
Handle the wet ball like a donkey all night. Nice hair doofus.

They should just sign up Stephenson to a QTR contract.
He disappears after Qtr time like a fart in the ocean.
