Siren definitely went before he marked it.

The rule is the siren goes when any umpire hears it, not just the controlling umpire. One of the ones further up the ground closer to the siren point will have told him.

I thought it was when the ump signals he's heard it and thus signals end of play? Because that didn't happen. It was very similar to Georgies last week, maybe the siren went when the ball was 2 feet from his hands compared to George's one.

I'm pretty sure the rule says the quarter ends when any umpire hears the siren, not the signal.
Anyone can say this. Quarter/game's over when umpire puts his two arms up, doesn't matter how long the siren blasts. It's been debated before on this forum.

Must be crazy air with those Saussies. Crows and Port had an open door for the finals and have both blown their chances.

That would mean there is a gap between when the siren goes and the umpire having time to signal and blow the whistle.

I'm sure that's not the case, no play is counted after the siren is heard, the signal is just to tell the timekeepers they can stop blowing the siren.

Agree with TF - this was debated on here when the Launceston-gate match happened.

The umpires didn’t hear the siren and the game went on for minutes before they realised and stopped the game. Nichols was the umpire and it affected the end result as it was a close game. Saints were playing Hawks from memory.

We all saw it with George last week.

These Adelaide team debacles opens up an opportunity for Bulldogs. Wouldn't be that comfortable finishing 5th (quite likely if we don't win both of last two) and fronting up to Bulldogs in an elimination final.

No the game is not over until the umpire signals that fact. The siren can go for as long as it takes for the signal from the ump

My recollection tells me Tigerforce is correct, the only way the game is over is when the umpire raises their hands. With lots of umpires on the ground now I suppose that means one umpire raises their hands and the game is over. So, if one umpire calls a mark but one of the other umpires has already raised their hands then the mark would not count.
