Round 2: The garlic Uber ride games.

Makes me sad to hear that, I've only seen 4 or 5 games so far and they have all been great to watch.
The same joyless experience I found with cricket some time ago. The cheating was the final nail. Have barely watched a day of a test since and have only been to the Big Bash a couple of times. As I have no connection to the team I have no desire to watch. Tennis was also done for me years ago by the grunters, especially the women.

Come on TBR.... Fans, commentators, even players are regularly perplexed by the rules and decisions.

To have something as simple as the end of a game being subject to interpretation and confusion is right on point for the AFL
Is the confusion with the commentators and talking heads and social media?

The rule was posted on here, which as i understand it has been the rule for a long time.
Umpire decides the game has ended when they hear the siren. Not when they signal.
What the players crowd tv hears is irrelevant.
The only thing that can occur after that is the ball going for a score. Anything else, including out of bounds is null and void.

And i recall that the TV clock isn't the official clock so can be a fraction out too.

It was the saints Freo game that continued past the time because the umps didn't hear the siren (or chime). So according to the rules the game officially continued.

In short its the umps decision when its finished.

Thanks for clarifying mate.

Really interesting tweet from Grant Thomas today referring to the 'Sirengate' saga when he was coaching St Kilda.

He inferred that the saints were filthy about the process and then said the AFL intimidated the saints board/exec not to challenge it or there would be repercussions.

Always happy to acknowledge when I'm not sure about something. Fortunately it occurs less for me than most.
Good to see. But being unsure less often does’t mean you’re correct. It just means you’re sure of yourself. Some might even say full of yourself. That doesn’t mean you’re correct either. :giggle:
