I’ve seen nothing in Geelong to consider them a threat to our crown .... apart from the bias umpiring. Smith is a turnover merchant and Higgins is one of the softest players in the league.
And how about Scott taking the James Hird diet of tanning supplements and who knows what else?
I just rewinded to watch the Selwood free kick. A Geelong player (Henderson?) taps the ball into his space. Selwood and Zorko are both a few steps away from the contest, Selwood a touch closer. He looks up at Zorko before he grabs the ball. Then contact is made.
Here - look at Selwood's leg's. They're at a 45 degree angle leaning into his opponent. He was running in a straight line, but now he's at a 45 degree angle leaning into his opponent, who is waiting for the tactic with his knees bent (and Zorko is a short dude), but Selwood must only be about 80cm off the ground at this point. Selwood leans his weight into Zorko while turning his back/shoulder into his opponent and drops his weight to the ground in a single motion. Free kick. Zorko hits Selwood in the head because he knew the tactic, he approached Selwood knowing the tactic, he got down low waiting for the tactic... only for Selwood to run into him to win another free kick. Brisbane fans must be furious tonight, and rightfully so.
Joel Selwood could draw a free kick from a broomstick. It's ridiculous that it's still allowed to happen, but it also perfectly symbolises Geelong's values as a club, and adds to the beauty of last year's premiership.
That's a good description of how he does it. Anticipates the tackle and is going to ground when it comes.
Its because they keep getting away with it that fires us up.
The cheating umps. their staging for free kicks, the free kicks not paid against them, the ones they shouldnt get but do, and the whinging, constant.
They arent questioned, their Scott gets away with intimidating the other team's players on the ground - the AFL have made this get out of control.
That's the hate.
Yet throws his arms up in the box, smashes the phone and throws the toys out of the cot every decision he doesn't like...

Guy should be fined & reprimanded for his interaction with the Brisbane players but of course won't be..
