Round 13.The Other Games (Don't Forget Neale Daniher's Fight MND)

Yeah, Cameron and Smith make a difference. So does Rhys Stanley. Hopefully he finds his way back into the team for the finals. That might be the break that we need. I don't think it will happen though, it is going to be hard for Scott to trust him in a big game again.

Gary Rohan is a bit of a downhill skier as well, and no doubt GregBrian will be back too.

Interesting game style employed these days by the cats... they are no longer treacle slow and have a good mix of big bodies and pace.

Port often found it hard to penetrate Geelong's zone., trying to do so with precise kicking.

A lot of turnovers by Port in the centre and then the cats push forward hard in numbers, with quicks like Smith, Rohan and Cameron linking up or getting on the end of it.

Cameron's not your stay at home forward, he's working up deep in defence and running his opponent off their feet.

Their backline is still questionable to me and height is likely their kryptonite down there.

Centre square dominance to get first use in our forward line and 3 talls to avoid Stewart as the 3rd man up appears to be the way forward.

Our new kick mark possession style will need only elite kicks running through the midfield to dissect these defensive set ups otherwise we will get killed on the turnover.

Was Bonner the bloke that lost 2 key turnover contests in the centre of the ground in the last?
Was it Houston who refused to put his body behind the ball and let an opponent walk away with the ball? He then tried to make up for it by lifting his intensity for the next ten seconds.

I hate how good Cameron is
He has not proven himself on the big stage as yet. Cannot recall him playing any match winning hand in a final? He is an elite athlete who can power run a whole game. He can get by himself, hence the goals from the square or streaking forward alone. Port got exposed on the turnover last night. You just cannot afford to not be goal side of him cause you won't catch him. He's been clever at the forward stoppages, loves getting on the move through/past a stoppage and they use him well. I can't stand him with his faux toughness and OTT celebrations but he's a bigger threat with the new rules.
They didn't have Cameron then. Or Smith.
Nor the new rules which suit them as much as anyone. Teams that love possessing the ball have a big advantage. Less pressure on the ball carrier increases your chances of hitting the next target. And there are more options for the ball carrier. I'm hoping finals intensity negates this somewhat. But it's no surprise seeing the uncontested kings like the Cats/Bulldogs doing well.

Port's success has been built on a front half pressure game. Just like for us, it doesn't work as well with the new rules and they haven't adapted. And they are missing key personnel. I wouldn't want to face them at full strength in an AO final. We have their measure here but would be tough (like last year) to beat them away.

Was that the one in the last where Farrell got the free for the dangerous tackle and then kicked it slightly wide of the target? The Port player made no attempt to get in the path of the ball and Geelong got a goal from the subsequent turnover.

Geelong's defence set up very well. They did this against us in the first half of the 2019 PF so there is a question as to whether they can sustain the defensive set up for the whole game, but when they do it is difficult to get past the centreline or get an effective pass into the forward line.

That sounds right.

As a general supporter group, Port fans are total imbeciles. Have a look at how their fans often have a crack at the opposition coaches as they walk down to the field for the quarter breaks. Plus let's not forget that loser throwing his drink over Lynch as he was being interviewed.

*smile* morons with chips on their shoulders. Inferiority complex.

Ive got a good mate who understands the game and its cultural nuance better than most.

and he looks me in the eyes and swears the only difference between Port fans and Tiger fans is the clothes, and obviously the stupid INXS song.

I would vehemently disagree with your mate on that score. The stupid INXS song shows how moronic they are. IMHO the most cringeworthy thing that happens at any AFL game throughout the season.

He is right.

Supporter groups in Australia fall into two basic categories, Silvertails and Sh!tkickers.

Melbourne- Silvertails. Norwood- Silvertails. Hawthorn- Silvertails. Collingwood-Sh!tkickers. West Coast- Silvertails. Part Adelaide- Sh!tkickers. Richmond- Sh!tkickers. Fremantle- Sh!tkickers. Geelong- some kind of obscene amalgam of Western District Silvertails and Sleepy Hollow Sh!tkickers. Get the picture? Football is tribal.

Yeh, get a Cranbourne or Pakenham line train after an MCG match and you'll meet some interesting characters.

Front runners. Give them time and space and they'll cut you up. We play like we did against them earlier in the year and they'll star. Same with Rohan. We play the richmond way and they'll be ineffective.

it was 3.

just fell over and kind of stayed there, then got up and walked.

an extraordinary poor performance from an AFL footballer, made we wonder how he got there?

and how he's managed to draw a cabinet ministers wage for 6 years?
Cheers Eee Zeee Baby, glad I wasnt the only one noticing seems the broadcasters did.

As feral as the Tiger hoards can undoubtedly be, not even the RFC would go so contrived to do an Uber Poor Mans Liverpool and Gerry and the Pacemakers with INXS. is contrived guff and drivel its actually embarrassing and makes the ol ROAR meter at the G look cool AF.

Never walk alone was a song for the people and was appropriate for individual relationships, within families parents to children, communities, and resonates within the populous, addresses hardships turmoil and tumult and difficulties all are faced with thus its become folklore and part of the Liverpool identity.

Never Tear Us Apart song is a romantic melancholy ballad that doesnt speak of hardship turmoil for the masses just one relationship.

All guff and hubris and no substance.

Like the Kochies.

I don't get the association between Port and INXS. They're not even an SA band.

There is none that I'm aware of and the most laughable part is that the song doesn't even fit the brief or the narrative they've just grabbed at one line in a song to try and make it something that it aint.

It's really quite amusing.

your preaching to the converted Craig,

I actually respect my mate enough to take his point: Port people are nutcases with a long working-class history; ditto Tigers.

obviously the INXS allows us to feel orders of magnitude superior in every respect .

and so we should

Port is more analogous to Collingwood. They're both so dumb they think there's only black or white.
