Round 1 - Changes vs Carlton

Kosi and Naismith dropped. Geez that was quick for Naismith....deserved another week.

IN: Duz, Nank, Lynch and Mansell in......why Mansell???
OUT: Ryan, Naismith, Banks and Kosi

Looks like Nank and Balta sharing the ruck.
From reports Mansell had a brilliant pre-season. Reward.

Happy enough with the changes, but seriously how can anyone justify the inclusion of Grimes and Prestia.
They have both been great and are getting another shot, but equally they both looked pretty cooked to me and it is difficult to see how how they can physically match their likely opponents.
Prestia had most effective disposals and clearances and score involvements of all midfielders. Was never going to be dropped. Had a great 2nd half in particular, finished strongly.

Ooze needs to phase oldies out.
The over riding responsibility of the match committee is to select players who are fit enough to be able to compete. Don't believe these two can and if unfortunately I am right and they take up bench space because of it, then the team suffers as a result. 'Phasing out oldies', is sentimental claptrap.

They're not fully cooked yet. We need some experience in the team especially for the kids. Only at R1 so far....

Hope they both do well, but think they will struggle to keep up.

Good changes

Yze passes first test
Very refreshing Carts.

I know you won’t like this but great to see Ross in the starting 18.

I think Mansell will be the sub.

Still think we are slow through the midfield but if we can get Balta rucking and Shai as first rover it will change the dynamics.

So from this I assume Dow has been given a one game reprieve. Plus hard calls on some of the oldies depending performance and outcome tomorrow night.

At this stage Prestia & Grimes are still better options than their future replacements. We saw last week how youngsters Dow, Ryan & Banks struggled.
If this very experienced team is uncompetitive tomorrow night then we are in for a long year & the stalwarts will be phased out soon enough.

Good to see the obvious changes being made, and also good to see Ross named on the starting 18.

Here’s hoping for a full reset after that aberration of a 1st half last week.

Agree 100% l like Uze already ,setting the standard ,get games into these kids .
My bet is Grimes will pull the pin mid year he is COOKED .
Yes he was last year. He is no mug and will pull it if he has to - a man of integrity

Old old old, feels like a continuation of Hardwick mistake of last 2 years. I hope we're not waiting until mathematically impossible again to give youngsters a go in 24. Expected more youngsters round 0. Wasn't going to happen with the ins for this week. 4 is already alot of changes after 1 round with no injuries. 1710317800115.png

He's been with the club for 4 years, and had 6 disposals last week playing in the midfield. He is simply not the answer
Not a great game but has shown he can get the ball. Had some ripper halves and last game in 23. To put in perspective he had 6 effective disposals, Taranto had 8, Hopper 12. Of course Dow is dropped before them but just shows how utterly poor our midfield was. Slaughtered. Rowell, Miller, Anderson had 60 effective (21,21,19)
