Rnd 7 Richmond vs Sandringham

Thought Ellis C, Markov and Menadue showed good dash of half back, liked Markovs one on ones, Corey was silky for most of it and Menadue I thought just took the game on at all costs. In saying that didn’t think any smashed the door down. Stengle showed signs as always but one of his quieter games that I’ve seen, Soldo just ok against a proven AFL fringie, Chol continuing slowly in an upward direction, Garthwaite solid as rock, think he got beat at the first contest that was it. Liked Bakers game , has something about him, Miles is Miles, Brando no better then any of the others running off half back, good but I’d expect better to get back in the senior 22, Moore I don’t know ,I’m just seeing treading water, highlights a great just not sure if his got the footy nous to stay in games longer, Bolton though off early injured still not enough for my liking, plenty to work with though, best game I’ve seen from Naish , goin ok

Rioli looked to be moving ok , not much impact though which is fair enough.

He has tapered somewhat the past month, but could he be one of those players who goes better at AFL level when delivery is better and the wings of the MCG give more space?

He certainly a unique specimen TBH, there’s definitely something to work with, I’ve just lost faith in his ability to be able to play at the top level, haven’t put a line through yet. His set shot kicking looked to have improved last year, think its gone backwards this year.

Final score?

Get Cholly in the 1sts is my opinion.

This side is going great although yet to play the other contenders on 5W/1L - Colonwood, BH Dawks and then there's Willy, Essendope and Port (again). We are winning comfortably at present. I just wonder if anyone of the talls especially looks like they really can step up to AFL and succeed.

Great to have a dominant season, make finals, even win the VFL flag this time. But that's not the main aim. Can Chol, Soldo or Moore make AFL type players? Hopeful, just not all that confident. Are they just decent 2nds performers. I think the likes of Mena, Markov, Stengle, Bolton maybe Baker and others will be capable of reaching the level. And I really want to see us play Miles soon because, no doubt, a mob like the Dopers or others have got to be coming hard for him this year.

Aside from Garth, are these other talls going to bridge the divide? Starting to really wonder. I suppose you look at how Ratugolea is progressing at GLong - higher pick, sure, but in his 1st year?

The side is that well drilled and has that many above average VFL players that they can win like today without anyone being outstanding.

Not a good for a defender to be trying to get into the seniors even an established player such as Brando.

The fact the defenders arent having to work that hard when their side is belting opposition is not helping.

I dont think Brando has shown a level of dominance required in his stint in the VFL in the past couple of weeks has he.

Players such as Wood, Ballard, Grewar, Aarts and Silvestro etc are a big part of the reason the side is going so well also.

Thought that several times myself, like this match against the Weagles. Perfect opportunity to include another tall, even thought Balta was a chance. Weagles loaded up with talls. But ... nah!

Hope their aerial dominance doesn't cost us this match.

Balta didn't even play in the VFL team.

Am extremely excited by Marbs development this season. Starting to work hard, believe & deliver..
Hope he gets a senior game soon.
Yep. Loved his mongrel act in the last quarter. Get this kid pumped up, anything could happen.

I spoke to Jake Aarts (shoulder injury). He told me Balis was rested. For mine I thought Corey Ellis was best. His disposal was perfection.

Balta rested and so was Coleman Jones

Ballard & Aarts didn't play - both injured

Best game all year for Marcov

DR very quite but did a few good things. Chol played well but football has definitely changed to more of a basketball style now....The amount of times players just go up in a pack one handed to try an tap down is amazing..not that I like it.

Watched B Ellis very closely and a couple of less than full on attacks at the ball were not great and just about everything he did ended in a turnover or just a 50/50 contest...not saying he didn’t try but a lot didn’t go his way.

Something must have happened we missed, as Morris tried to kill a guy in a few tackles in the 3rd but luckily it didn’t hurt us on the scoreboard.

Bolton injured early (corky ?) and had a bandage on upper left leg early in game.
