Richmond VFL V Scats game day

RCD and Dow are a concern.

Stack and Cumberland deserve promotion
I wouldn’t mind seeing how Cumberland went in the step up to AFL; he’s seems to keep bobbing up in the right spots in the few VFL games I’ve watched.

Don't write off Colina, for his size and no pre season he is not slow, and was never outmarked. He also has endeavour and did not drop his head when beaten. A couple of preseasons and we can make a realistic judgement. For the time being just play him in a FP with lots of one on one training.
Has to play at a lower level. It's detrimental to his game to not get any of the ball. Get him a pre-season under his belt and he can have a go next season. Has no influence at all and he looked very slow to me. Can he jump? Didn't do so in the ruck. Great though to see him kick his first game as a roving forward. That's always a special moment.

Our vfl team is very inexperienced and young. There is a lot of talent there.

Sonsie and Banks will be AFL players in a year or two.

Both underwhelming.
No doubt

Playing Ross on a wing last few years
Martyn to HBF
RCD change role to defensive midfielder
Dow , not sure if they have changed his role but going backwards too

Big questions on how we develop our young midfielders imo

Aarts, Stack and Cumbo hauled us over the line. Loved Mansell's game down back, so tough.
Yep individual brilliance carried the side.

Most of our VFL p[layers are pretty ordinary. That said the young islander lad Faimalo is a goer has speed is tough and has sure hands. Kicking is a bit iffy sometimes but obviously a good Rugby player learning his way.

Definately looks like he wouldve been a good rugby League centre or p[layer around the ruck with his hands and speed off the mark.

Others had some good moments and some others RCD and Dow not so much.

Some of our AFL listed blokes become conspicuous due to their inconspicuousness.

We already know what Aarts can do in the seniors. Had plenty of opportunity. Not good enough. Good VFL player. That's it.
Yep - in fact we know exactly what Aarts, Castagna and Parker can do in the seniors. In addition we know they can’t be playing seniors in 3 or 4 years time.
Instead we have to find out about the likes of Dow, Brown, Sonsie, Cumberland and others - who may have sufficient upside that they could become regular senior players for a number of years. They should get chances first.

I think we have been playing Ross on a wing because we know he is good enough for AFL level but there is simply not a position for him at that moment. He is a defensive midfielder and we play 2 of them in Cotch and Graham and he isn't better at that role than either of them, so they have tried to find other ways to play him in the AFL team. He got a crack at the defensive midfielder role yesterday and did well at the role.

Martyn hasn't got it at the higher level as a midfielder, so they are trying him in another position before we cut him.

RCD is not good enough for a defensive midfielder. Needs to play the role of clearance player (like a Tom Green) but doesn't seem to read the ball well.

Dow, not sure, reckon he needs to play with other mids that win the ball, seemed to impact much better in the final quarter once Aarts was pushed into the middle.

Not sure its a development issue, there is a talent issue there with some of them.

Edwards could be the sub,? the club wants to (and I understand why), get him to 300.

If we play Cumbo, based on what we always do, he wont be the sub, he will be in the 22.

Considering he's technically notched up 1 AFL game but didn't get a run, it'd be cruel to make him medi sub in his second game too. Deserves a couple of games at least in the seniors.

Yeah I liked Faimolo coming off half back, nice speed and seemed to use the ball fairly well. One to watch for the rest of the year.

Dud already right on to him at the national draft.

Our VFL side is garbage.

VFL players are slow small and lack skill.

Our AFL listed kids are starting to stagnate.
Mate, I bet if I keep reading this thread you are eating humble pie somewhere ...........I turned over to watch the AFL and should've stayed here also, thats some kind of win by the Magoo's, very well played Boy's, thats a fantastic comeback win.

8 goals in 3 qtrs and then put on the afterburners and kick 8 in the Last...... NICE !!! :clap2:clap2:clap2

Nope .

This game was won by half a dozen players lifting and pulling the side across the line.

Stack, Aarts, Cumberland in particular.

Dow and RCD were poor, and many of the VFL players who get games are not really very good.
