the last 6 weeks or so there has been a heap of opposition supporters in our area.
Especially against Collingwood and Hawthorn.
We get reserved seats so we can sit with our own supporters but the last few weeks there has been a few idiots stirring the pot from the oppostion.

A bit disappointed and dont think ill get reserved seats next year, may have to stand in the grog squad

I think is this due to two issues:

1) people loaning their memberships to mates

2) I believe unsold seats in the members reserve can be bought via the ticketing agencies (saw some people with the print out tickets once in our area).

We have had the same problem especially last 2 home games. Level 2a in line with the 50

Where are your reserved seats?

It *smile* me no end. We pay good money to be in a richmond area.
Often find some opposition punters sitting in our seats when we arrive.

I don't usually mind if a mate lets in a mate using an otherwise unused ticket, but when they are out in force, and they are obviously not meant to be there, it really grates - especially if they act like arseholes.

At the Collingwood game, there were about a dozen of them sitting in seats that are
usually occupied by people I know have reserved tickets. There was one "member" with
two tickets and they swapped them to whomever had to go and get the next "shout" so they could get back into the reserved area.

At the Hawks game, people just seemed to wander in and sit where there were vacant seats.

These seats can't be "sold" as I know they are usually occupied by RFC members.

Seems like the security is very slack at the gates.

I sometimes wonder why I bother to pay good $$$$ for tickets.

The hawks game was a reciprocal game made up to their members because they sell games to Tassie.
We had a similar thing against melbourne a few rounds ago to compensate the adelaide game.

They're allowed on level 2 if they have L2 memberships but are supposed to sit in a certain area, i reckon this is where its not being policed.

level 2 punt road end goals
Sitting in the same area last Saturday night and I had a Hawk supporter right behind me and then a few rows back 4 teenagers who were a mixture of Hawk and Carlton fans everytime Buddy did something they would remark Gee can't figure out why Richmond overlooked him, then when Tambling would get the ball, the comments were oh so thats why with sniggers. Sucks having to sit there knowing there isn't much you can say in return.

And last weekend there was about 8 people sitting in the row in front of me (none have been to a match all year so I knew they weren't members) swapping a membership card when they needed to load up on grog. Pretty ugly.

Pretty hard to justify spending money on a reserved seat memebrship when that happens so flagrantly

I've been whinging about this for many years.

Just 2 weeks ago, I couldn't stand listening to a Swans prick who kept mentioning "Geez it's quiet up here" everytime the Swans kicked a goal.

How can they let these morons in if they're not Richmond supporters??

I rocked up to my 3 reserved seats (Section N1, one level up, behind the goals, cheersquad end) just before the start of play on Saturday, only to find some old cronies from the Former Players Bar sitting in them.. all dolled up in their club gear. (They were in their 50's at least - so didn't recognise any of them). There would have been maybe 7-8 of them altogether...

It was a bit of an awkward moment.. There were plenty of free seats in the area so it was no big deal for my party of 3 to relocate.. but I just didn't like the looks I got when I politely advised that they were in my seats.. And then you wonder if the people who's seats we sat in, would turn up and force us to move again... My Dad is 70 and doesn't like change.. was more worried for him than myself.

If the section had been full, I would have had no qualms about telling the cronies to move on - but given the number of empties, seemed pointless to make a big deal of it..

Anyway - just wanted to share..

What is so bad about sitting with opposition supporters? Adds a bit to the game doesnt it?

I guess if our team had a crack out on the park every now & then we could have a crack back at the opposition fans... sadly that doesn't happen alot.

Laugh it off. Surely after all these years you would all be used to copping crap about our team anyway, there wouldnt be much you hadnt heard before.

You are asking the wrong question. If somebody doesn't want to sit with opposition supporters to the extent that they pay a premium, they should expect that to be upheld.

It's good to have an option and a reserved seat in a Richmond area should offer that.  Opposition supporters in Richmond areas can be very antagonistic and cause a lot of disruption.  I sometimes make the choice to sit in the general area rather than in my reserved seat, but when I am in my reserved seat I don't expect to be harassed or see fights.

I'm in the Northern stand and I'm sure they sell some of it thru the ticketing agencies. As for a member not being able to go themselves and loaning their ticket to someone else, there's nothing wrong with that. If they can't go, someone else might as well get the use of it. Even if they barrack for the scabbies. I do think though that opposition supporters should be a bit more reserved in what is a reserved Richmond area.

Yeah I agree. You guys need to learn some comeback lines.

What does it add?

I keep hearing nothing but arrogant comments everytime. Why don't they just shut up and watch the game.

You remind me of a Crows supporter with that line. A bit of banter never goes astray.

I'm talking about arrogant comments not banter.

I've shared Richmond games with a few opposition supporters in a friendly way but most seem to be smart arses.

Exactly the same when opposition supporters troll into here and start making stupid comments instead of sharing their opinions, comments in a more respectable way. Only a few opposition supporters have been good on this forum.
