Retire / Trade / Delist

Oscar Brownless delisted. Now Billy can also start criticising his club publically.

Dump the youth and recruit the codgers.
Like the younger Silvagni’s if the surname was Smith they would never have been drafted

Crazyeyes idea.
Listen up.

Everyone talking about taking TM or JOM to help us win a preeemiership.
Its a good objective, everyone needs a goal in life.

But how about we get both?
Sure we don't have the cap money.
Nah Hawks will pay a bit. The rest of the details don't need to concern us.
Lets think about the footy side of things.

The top side at the moment, the dees, were 3/4 beaten in their last match by a team that don't even have one ruckman. We have two!

Imagine a line up with Dion, JOM, Tom Mitchell.
Lambo and Jack G off the half forward line.
part timers Dusty, Shai and Cotch all resting forward.
Shedda half back flank.

If you hope to win, put down your hard earned.
If you are going to win, double it.
Don't go halves

*fine print. How do we do it?
Trade with Dogs 38+40 for 23.
Give Hawks 23 + future 2nd (probs North)
In effect we trade CJ for JOM
We still draft 7 15 26 28

Not a bad idea TD. Probably a bit overs technically for JOM too, which would encourage the Hawks to take a fair whack of his salary (aim for about 60-70%). Whats he on, maybe $550k, surely we'd have some way to find $220k in the salary cap (40% of $550k)

No chance Del Boy.

Hawks wants high picks not mid 20 selections.

We also don''t have a scratchy dime to spare for one. Let alone two upper end players.

Agreed no chance. Just a dreamland post.

But Hawks won't get high picks.
Looking at each club, only those ready to compete are potential.
melb, dogs, cats are all definite no.
Bombers blues saints have already been shopping or traded too much.
swans have players going out, a ruck coming in.
WC and Freo are unlikely.
Giants no need.

Maybe Port, Brisbane are customers.
No chance Hawks get a top 20 pick.

Plus in a jumble sale its a bulk order.
2 players for 23 and (roughly) 21

Agree no way we are recruiting hawks today

Next year may be very different given the potential retirements of Cotch, Jack and even Shedda

Contract wise how about extending our young players to free up cash?
Bolton Graham etc
Give Dusty another year.
Longer contracts with less $ in 2022

So we wait until our elite players have gone to top up?
Our opportunity for a flag is next year, not in 2023

You are questioning it like it is a choice, it's not. We have to wait because we are up to the limit of our salary cap
By reports the cap is a sticking point. As it is for most clubs, which also means less suitors for TM and JOM so they will be cheaper in trade.
That's important because keeping the 4 picks keeps our rebuild on track.

We would need to be extra creative / aggressive to make the changes.

Its only speculation and won't happen.
But it's something we could do that would be bold and aggressive

Spot on.
They have a perfect opportunity next year.
Nice break leading up to a FULL preseason and Bag full of draft picks and we can't move because of cap space this is ridiculous.
Adding Omeara automatically helps Prestia and Cotchin.
Martin & Edwards will be singing having Omeara in the guts.
*when we recruit player's that have GC in them we win flags
Back end a few of the contracts for 2 years and lets charge for 4 in 6.
It will be really frustrating next year watching us lose clearances and especially centre clearances because we have gone into a pre-season loaded up on the cap
Was lost Astbury and Houli this year. The club wanted Astbury to play on.
So what's the go? if he has gone, throw in Chol and Cj.
We should at bear minimum have 350-450k left over.
Get Hawthorn pay Omearas 50% wage next year.
Happy days.

My comment wasn't a judgement about whether it should or shouldn't happen, only that it won't happen because of salary cap pressure.

Have our club got the balls to ask Cotchin 700+, Martin 1.3 mil, and lynch 1.2, to take a cut to fit in Omeara.
This after Riewodlt and Edwards took less to stay.
We didnt offer overs to Bolton to stay.
Is Castagna's deal back ended?
Was Houli and Asbury on $156.70 a year
