Went there a fortnight ago before The Darkness gig, liked it. Parma's are quite thin though, reason they give is they can cook them evenly this way. Got one with meatballs on top ;D Great seasoning on the chips, and a nice selection of craft beer.

Same, I went to Moroccan with the spicy meatballs on top.

Good meal before the footy.

Where is Mrs Parmas?
I go to The Supper Inn.
Probably not the place for a romantic dinner but the chinese is top nosh for the money.

One of these days,I wanna go to Rockpool for a meal. ;D

Went to (Grossi) Florentino's on Friday night for the first time in ten years. First time a tasting menu (8 courses) almost defeated me, big portions compared to similar establishments. Thought it was good and dare I say it, reasonably priced for higher-end.

Next day was a 4n20 and hot chips at the G for a Tiger's win.

Top weekend.

Agree with Leysey on Maha. Fantastic food there, very aware staff (knowledgeable and also know when to leave you alone), Maltese Beer, quality atmosphere.

Donovans in St Kilda. Hard to go past that place.

Also Lau's Kitchen in St Kilda, just superb.

And believe it or not, Los Argentinos Argentinian in Frankston.

Hi Guys,

Tried to find a topic similar but search came up empty!

Thought it would be a great idea for all to recommend food places (or even tell of bad experiences)
I love a good feed and discovering/trying out new places instead of always heading to the nearest Nando's...

I have heard great reviews on Jim's Greek Tavern in Collingwood, heading to the work christmas party there next week and want to know about the "no menu" appeal.
Anyone on here been?

Been to Jim's Greek Tavern...yeah pretty good, nice atmosphere.
You just tell them how much you wanna spend!
Good variety of selection.....Seafood, lamb skewers and cutlets, grilled cheese and Greek salads etc.

Here is a thread about favorite places to dine out that escaped you.

I probably mentioned this on the other thread but my favorite 2 restaurants would be the 'Maya Tequila Bar & Grill' in South Yarra,
and the 'Red Emperor' in Southbank.....easily my favorite Chinese and Mexican restaurants in the Country!
My favorite Restaurant is in Miami so I really can't count that in.....I can't wait to get back there next year actually. :hihi

My favourite "authentic" Mexican is Los Amates on Johnston St, between Brunswick & Nicholson Sts.

Also on Johnston, on the same side but across Brunswick, is Shocolate, a magnificent Chocolate dessert cafe.

As for Indian, the Tandoori Den, almost on Camberwell Junction, is consistently the best over 20 years.

My favourite food is French, but I have found it hard to locate a great French restaurant.
I loved Jean Jacques in North Melbourne, 25 years ago.
Also, I loved the French restaurants hosted by Emil & Marie on the Gold Coast, Qld, over many decades.
Emile passed away many years ago; of Marie's whereabouts, I'm not sure.

My favourite breakfast spot is Bumbles Cafe, on Bumbles Beach, behind Surfers, on the Gold Coast, hosted by the great and amazing Kate Madison, who I've counted as a close friend for nigh 30 years.

Of dining spots, few beat Fremantle Wharf, where you can stay at the Esplanade, and dine at the Little Creatures Brewery, Cicerellos restaurant, or the fresh seafood market.

I used to really enjoy the old Moore's restaurant in Sandy Bay, 25 years ago. The current one is good, but not as.
There is also a fantastic small restaurant in Launceston whose name escapes me. It has been some while.
Stillwater is also very good.

If anyone is after some authentic Soba, try Shimbashi Japanese Soba and Sake Bar in the CBD. Daily hand made noodles are to die slurp for

Cute little italian restaurant/cafe in Moonee Ponds "L'angolo" on Putt St just off Puckle. Amazing food, cannot go passed the pan fried calamari on some almond dressing thing. Also the gnocchi made fresh everyday.

Mamasita's in the city for authentic Mexican - the corn there is amazing! Also 400 Gradi for pizza - fantastic!

Cheers Baloo, will check it out. Miss handmade noodles from my Japan days. Shoya in Market Lane is brilliant...you know a good Japanese restaurant when they grate a wasabi root for your wasabi, instead of squeezing that green goop from a tube.

Did you have to wait long for a table? I'm a bit soft when it come to waiting...like reservations.
