Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Just hope Conca can change his destiny. To get injured this week or next would be a very Concish thing to do.

Fingers crossed Reece doesn't do the "Concish thing"

Re: Reece "The Centurion" Conca

The pressure is going to wratchet up to red hot level over the next two weeks especially for the small forwards and mids.

The back 7 is set they are fairly safe save for injury suspension or catastrophic loss of form.

I would agree with this but reckon Conca got the thumps down, not quite ready, from Peter Burge at the Captain's run this morning. I could be wrong

The moral of the story is that Balmey trumps everyone,

and his decision making is based on two things

1. Logic, and

2. Maximising the chance of winning premierships

It was a no brainer to bring Reecy in under the circumstances.

He swims or he sinks.

I really hope Reecy breaks the 100m butterfly record,

but if he goes down, we gave it a crack.

a fit Reecy, or no Reecy. All or Nothin'. My kind of footy club.

He's in. Amazing recovery

Yep - when he went down and was carted off in that Sydney game it was awful to watch and looked like he was gone for a long long time.
Great comeback even to this point.

You got a pair of the old ankle high boots in the wardrobe Reece can borrow TOT

Sadly, my ankle high boot days are well behind me.

Re: Reece "The Centurion" Conca

Like Concs and what he can bring especially with us down in the midfield.

We all wish him the best and a clean run.

Popular clubman who needs a change a luck.

Re: Reece "The Centurion" Conca

Done well to recover and play again this season. Guess he was picked for what he can bring to the game but also we needed a hard bodied midfielder as we have lost Cotch, Prestia and Lambert in one swoop. Hope he and Lloyd have good games

Re: Reece "The Centurion" Conca

I reckon if there are no more injuries and everyone else recovers In time then short Conca and Higgins will be in the qualifying final team.

Towner and a couple of others will be unlucky.

Rolling the dice with the most injury prone player in the AFl appears to be a complete lack of faith in Towner. Going to be interesting how Conca stands up without guns Cotch, Prestia & Lambert who provide gut running for the whole four quarters

Almost reads like you WANT Conca to fail/get injured tonight...

Re: Reece "The Centurion" Conca

Welcome back Reece, good luck & here is your chance to hopefully be part of something special

Its really simple.

1. The MC has Reece in their best 22
2. He needs match fitness for finals
3. VFL have a bye.
4. 3 of our midfield heavy lifters are being rested
5. Reecy is a midfield heavy lifter, and gets match fitness in a junk-time senior encounter

It would have been way up the easy end on the MC's difficult conversation spectrum

would have gone something like this

Balmey: 'we need Reece fit for finals, he has to come in'

all the other blokes (nodding): 'yeah'

Towner and Reece play different roles.
No comparison.

Re: Reece "The Centurion" Conca

Have said conca is important to us. He and graham do alot of the heavy lifting, dirty, defensive mid duties which gives lambert cotch prestia edwards martin more confidence to run forward and create chaos. Strap the ankles tight and hopefully he has 2 solid games before finals.
