No offence Phanto but what then about the forum posting rules.

Shakespeare always stressed the need for comic relief during the mundane dramas of regular AFL. 8-

Please note that I did include the "Cheese sandwich" option.

Re: Commas in grammar

What can be more frustrating is how some people correct others grammar and punctuation to show how much smarter they are than everyone else. That and not being able to comprehend that this board is for footy related topics

In texting, definitely.

There is one PREnder here, regularly posting from a mobile device, who often uses a comma in place of an apostrophe.

What's a poll phantom? I believe you meant, "We need a poll, Phantom." ;D

Excellent point!

Well picked up.

Think I meant phantom poll. Who knows? This English language confuses me.

No it's not just you. Correct grammar across the board has deteriorated with the introduction of 'smart' phones.
Not much point in getting hung up on it though, it's here to stay. So long as I understand a post, I could care less.

It confuses a lot of people, most probably because it is a hybrid language, rather than being homogeneous.

The best insight into the English language that I've seen was Melvyn Bragg's The Adventure of English (2002, ITV).
Many of our common use words come from German, Nordic, Flemish & Latin roots.

Not to worry, the English language is fluid and constantly changing.
Read original Shakespeare and see how much our language has changed.

And, it will continue to change in the future.

Could or couldn't care less?

Punctuation is important.

A panda walks into a café. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and proceeds to fire it at the other patrons.
"Why?" asks the confused, surviving waiter amidst the carnage, as the panda makes towards the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.
"Well, I'm a panda," he says, at the door. "Look it up."
The waiter turns to the relevant entry in the manual and, sure enough, finds an explanation. "Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

From Eats, Shoots & Leaves. 'ood book.

Chuckle.

Wombats do something similar but it doesn't involve guns.

Your "others" there needs an apostrophe, but I'm not sure whether it should be before or after the "s". :)

That was excellent.

Well spotted.

If B4P is referring to others as in a singular other, then it should be other's.

However, if B4P is referring to others in the plural, as in many others, then it should be others'.

Thread title needs a full stop.

Not necessarily.
Examine it closely - Commas in grammar

It contains a subject, a preposition and object, but no verb.
Is it a sentence?
It may be a subject without a predicate, maybe not a sentence at all.

Therefore, it may not need a full stop.

Re: Pre game banner "tifo" (Amazing scene)

Our home, Our pride, This is Tigerland
Tiger pride! Tiger passion! Tiger army!
Our road is loud and proud, "Tiger Army"

My goodness, this looks more like a problem from a NAPLAN test.

Which one of these is punctuated correctly?
