Premier League 2022/2023/2024/2025

Spurs grind out a win, just keep gathering points early.

Slightly concerned about creativity in the midfield.

Leeds 2-0 against Chelsea just before halftime. I hope they don't another 2-0 lead like they did last week against Southampton.

Arsenal invigorated.

Saliba at the back and Jesus (Gabriel not Mc) have them up and about.

Gunners fans will be up and about early doors.

Man City has a chance to slip out to a bit of a lead early doors especially with Liverpool having 2 drawn games, and even better if Leeds knock of Chelsea.

Good to see Forrest back in the Top Flight, and Everton are in a bit of bother carrying on from where they left off last season. Utd stalled at the starting grid.

Intriguing start to the season. Some of the big guns off to a slow start. Leeds and Brighton off to really strong starts.

Lucky Wolves front half is so *smile*. Did their usual trick of missing every opportunity under the sun including 2 sitters. It’s like watching 3 or 4 Max Kings every week.

A great start by Leeds considering their 2 best players, Raphinha and Phillips have left the club.

Some astute additions to their list, Aaronson looks like being a beauty.

Aaronson does indeed look a beauty. Very lively player. Keen to see more of Luis Sinisterra too.

Did you see the highlights? Cracking atmosphere at Elland Rd. And what was the Chelsea keeper thinking with the Aaronson goal?

Half time ManU v Liverpool. ManU look like a different team. Not sure where this level of effort has been hiding.

Swapping Ronaldo out for Elanga/Martial means they can press effectively. Central back pair of Varane and Martinez was much more nimble than wth MacGuire. I think it's less about effort (though heads drop when you are already two goals down) and more about team selection/tactics - but there was definitely a response.

Liverpool's possession style also suits them - Liverpool back themselves and play a high line with agressive balls through so if they lose it then Man U can use speed effectively on the counter. I think Ten Hag has been realistic about his cattle and has reverted to Ole GS's counter attacking style - which to be fair was relatively successful for a period.

Fast, well-organised teams that can break quickly will still trouble them - see Brentford last week. But still, much improved.

Liverpool - well, still a quality side but already in trouble if they want to chase down Citeh. They were unlucky with some chances today as well.

Yes, listened to the game live and watched the highlights. Aaronson made the keeper look silly didn't he.

Bamford injured again, they need to get another one before the summer transfer window closes at the end of the month, there's talk of them looking to get another left back before then too.

On that Aaronson goal, Guardian Football weekly ex Arsenal player was critical of the defender - passed back but didn't give another option for Mendy. Mendy butchered two touches to be fair but defender should have come back for a short pass option. Mendy either had to tonk it or try to beat the Leeds player - which he obviously didn't. Or put the ball out.

Yes my comment, "what was the keeper thinking?" In reality, it doesn't appear that he was thinking at all. He had no time for thinking processes to even kick in, given the situation he was put in by the defence. Hence why he *smile* up the two touches he did have. Very poor from the defender.

Although it was said in some of the analysis that Leeds really earned that. They ran themselves ragged giving Chelsea no time with the ball. Out ran, out hustled until Chelsea got flustered and made rookie mistakes.

Leeds rested 9 players in defeating League 1 Barnsley 3-1 in the 2nd of the Carabao Cup overnight.
New signing Sinisterra was involved in all 3 goals. They look to have made some astute additions for the 22/23 season.

They have indeed. Still not a big squad with massive depth in relative terms for the Premier League. But that is a function of doing it on a lesser budget than the big guns and trying to build more sustainably. Which is something I respect. Hopefully as you suggested earlier a striker and left back to come, in order to add a bit more cover.

Current reports are that Leeds are chasing Korean forward, Hwang from Wolves, Belgian forward, Batchuayi from Chelsea and Italian forward Wilfred Gnoto from Zurich. Gnoto sounds the closest to being signed of the three.

Chelsea's USA captain Christian Pulisic is an international teammate of Leeds players Aaronson and Tyler Adams. Leeds are rumoured to be interested in signing him. He hasn't made Chelsea's starting 11 for their first 3 games, so they might have a chance of snaring him.

Man City dominating possession 80% to 20% but are 2 nil down after 21 minutes against Palace.
