I'm hoping that not having the pre-finals break this year will really help Melbourne. I read somewhere that 28/32 of the top four teams that won in the first week went on to win the prelims before they brought in the bye. Here's hoping that your gut feel is wrong.

Its a prelim so anything could happen, but it would be a big turnaround from rd 23 Aces.

even though it was only 2 pts, Geelong were only better for 15 minutes.

Scott would have to pull the trigger and go full speed like they did in that 15 minutes,

and Stanley would have to beat Gawn.

I reckon the bookies have both prelims about right,

although I agree to an extent that Port are more certain than Dees.

I reckon Melbourne and Port go into both Prelims as deserved favourites. That's the way I reckon it will go but you never can tell.

I expect Melbourne to be better prepared for any Geelong surge and I don't think they will allow Geelong to get a substantial lead, I can see them trying to blow Geelong away early and then clamp down for a while to weather any comeback.

will be interesting to see who the neutrals get behind. Knowing the parochialism of WA, it’ll probably be the team that has the most locals playing for them.
