Players we can trade to get picks ?

I know there's talk of trading to get picks.
What about a McMahon and one of Schulz/Hughes for ports Jackson Trengove? A young kpf player still to make his mark, fills a need for us as well.
Allows us to take the option to draft a mid or Butcher with our 1st pick.
We may have to pay some of their salary as an inducement,(but we've plenty of room in the salary cap and may struggle to pay the minimum if we cut deep) but with "Chocco" being prepared to make changes to ports list, he may want a couple of "mature" players. Tredrea getting on Burgoyne going maybe. It may fill their needs as well.

No way Port are going to trade a kid like that IMO. We'd have more chance of getting Salopek but I reckon we'd have to throw in a pick with Hughes/Schulz to get him.

Probably wishful thinking, Disco. I'd be happy with that scenario resulting in us getting Salopek.

Salopek? Why willo?
He's been dropped by Port on occasions this season.
No way we are giving up any more picks for ordinary players.
They can have one of our fringies(see spuds) in return but no more draft picks.

These players are ones we should look at moving on and will warrant draft picks in my opinion:

Nathan Foley for a mid to late first rounder.
Daniel Jackson for a second rounder.
Shane Tuck for a third rounder.
Jordan McMahon to St.Kilda for a third rounder.
Andrew Raines a third rounder.
Adam Pattison for a third rounder.
Cleve Hughes for a third rounder.
Jay Schulz for a third rounder.

Considering we are in line to get pick 3 or 4, we could get some really good kids out of this, which is what I believe the new coach would be looking at. In saying that, we have salary cap problem in that we cannot afford to scrap too many as we will fall below the 92.5% minimum and that would not be good.

We have at this point of time pick 4, 20, 36, 52, 68, 84.

In my opinion we need a few more draft picks in there for a rebuild. We are going to probably lose Kane Johnson, Joel Bowden, Nathan Brown, Troy Simmonds, Kayne Pettifer and JON already, how many can we lose for kids on a minimum wage? Not too many.

This will be an interesting trade period thats for sure. A lot of crap will remain on the list as necessity, it will take three trade and draft periods to mould the list into what the new coach would want.
ya know bob i agree with most of what you have had to say on here but in all honesty do you really think we would get what you think for the mentioned players.

:hihi

Not particularly. That's what I would be offering though.

As I said to Goldie, very risky to be making assumptions on what other clubs are thinking.

I know for a fact Raines has admirers. I know for a fact Port like Schulz. I know for a fact that St.Kilda have an interest in Jordan McMahon.

What they offer is anyone's guess.

Let's give it a go. The best way to give your players a kick in the backside is to make them know they're tradeable.

Bowden - retired
Brown is now too slow and I can't see anyone picking him up. Maybe a 3rd rounder from Freemantle.
Cogs sad business but unlikely to survive.
Graham little value - I think he will be cut.
Hughes - was shopped around last year and has had a shocker of a year. No curency.
King - has got considerable exposure since Jade took over. Can see him getting a bit of interest maybe a high second rounder.
Jackson- unless Sydney's first rounder gets to us, I'd keep.
Johnson-retired at least 12 months too late.
Mcmahon - the rumours don't go away, maybe coupled with our second rounder for St Kilda's 1st and 3 rd
Newman- still think he would be perfect for the Blues, maybe Hampson plus their second rounder..
Oaklie-Nicholls has speed and has courage. I know he has let himself down with his poor 09, but under a new coach...not worth anything as a trade, we could find he survives.
Pattison- has had a very inconsistent year and I don't think he will be on the list next year.
Pettifer- the time has come.
Raines is terribly one sided, maybe a 3 rd rounder.
Schulz - Has a contract and no value as a trade. I'd like to see him under a new coach.
Simmonds- I don't think either Gus or Patto have sufficient skill to make it... Simmo may survive while Browne and Vickery make their way. If we get a Hampson he won't survive.
Tuck - not worth a second rounder, keep.

Upshot:
If more than two of the above suggested trades get done it would be a stunning result.
Player targets may be Armitage, Hampson, Salopek....for which our increasingly valuable PSD position should be exploited.
We will have lots of cash so anything might happen but I'd prefer we don't do a Brown/Johnson type deal.
Maybe Picks 3,19,35,51 and 67 plus Nahas and PSD plus Hampson and 3 more picks.

Off Brown Bowden Graham Hughes Johnson King Mcmahon Newman Oaklie-Nicholls Pattison Pettifer Raines, (11 players ), producing a late 1st, a late 2nd, a late 3rd and Hampson.

RETAIN *smile* he may IMPROVE under a new coach WTF are you on about here. *smile* has been at Richmond for 8 years, under Frawley then Wallace. He's lazy, he misses too many set shot's, he's slow, won't tackle and do the 1% when required.

If another club sticks up their hand and offers us draft pick 999, I'd trade *smile* in a flash. Ditto McMahon, if St Kilda want him and are prepared to give us a draft pick for him, *smile* him off pronto.

As for other tradeable players, hmmm don't see that much really. Jackson maybe, but then Jacko has just had probably the best season he's had at Richmond. Foley, possible, likewise Raines. Hughes is a big question mark, will he be traded or will he be delisted again only time will tell. King, tradeable, doubtful but if a draft pick was offered for him then I'd take it even if we had to pay his salary for his remaining contracted year.

Reading the posts on PRE over the past few weeks it seems we need...not in any particular order:

Ruckmen
Midfielders
Backmen FB and CHB
Forwards CHF and FF

Almost the whole list with one or two exceptions have been labelled for trade or delisting. Does that answer your question?
Haha Dont you realise, there only 3 positions left on the ground, full forward, full back and ruck, the rest are the same..... running type, skinny legged atheletes, that cant tackle..... Until the AFL restrict the interchange per Qtr we will continue to see this running type atheletes take over the game. Want to watch a real game of footy go watch some local country footy.

I couldnt stop laughing when buddy pushed 2 richmond backman aside and then ran onto goal with another 3 tiger players hanging off him and still kicked it.

Oldies go first, then just out and out duds.

Then some like White, Jackson and Schulz (because he's contracted) may have the season of their lives under a new coach and they can be shipped off to the GC for a higher pick than what they're worth.

I hope our recruiters are also keeping a close eye on the SANFL and WAFL, we may be able to pick up a couple of quality 22-23 year olds (like Liam Anthony) with later picks.

Being a shallow draft teams will be looking for recycled players.

Tuck might get us a 2nd to 3rd round pick. Would be extremely lucky to get a 3rd rounder. 4th and above is more realistic
Jackson and Hughes to Sydney for 1st and 3rd round pick or 1st and player swap. :rofl :rofl Read my point below.
Shulz for 3rd to 4th rounder, dreaming maybe but you never know. Delist or pay out.
Mc Mahon 3rd round pick to Saints or part trade for Ball ? Only picks. Forget trading for players. Even if they offer a can of coke, just TAKE IT!!!
Edwards to Adelaide for 2nd round pick. Again dreaming. 3rd round pick and again would take it in a heart beat.
JON for 4th rounder, someone might think they can turn him around. ;D That is a chance.
Raines 4th round or Gold Coast next year for 2nd round. 4th Round sounds more realistic.
Is there any wonder we have such a $hite list when we rate Jackson and Hughes as 1st round picks!!!

Absolutely delusional. :rofl

It really would be quite hilarious if it wasn't so depressing and people were actually taking the *smile*. Why would clubs want to pick up a load of hacks from arguably the worst team in the comp just because it's a shallow draft? You mentioned we would be interested in offloading some of our duds to pick up a few more picks. Dont ya reckon everyone would be wanting to do that?

Just love the ideas of trying to psyc out the other clubs. Sure, we'll go to other teams and threaten to take blokes like King, McMahon, and Hughes off the table if we don't get what they want. They would be devo. Who are we kidding? We will be the team on hands and knees during the trade period begging anyone to take at least one of our duds.

Sure St Kilda may be interested in McMuffin. The same way they were interested in Begley and King. St Kilda to offer anything of interest? Delusional.

Blokes like King, Shulz, Hughes, JON, Graham etc etc are worth nothing. Zero. Nil. Nada. Ziltch. Get it through your heads that other clubs are not going to take our trash out. We probably have 15 players on our list worth a 6-7th round pick or less. How depressing is that? Yet these are the guys being offered for 2nd and 3rd round picks.

And the GC are not going to take our hacks just for the sake of picking up mature bodies and because they have a lot of picks.
