Who are the players we can trade to get picks ?

Being a shallow draft teams will be looking for recycled players.

Tuck might get us a 2nd to 3rd round pick.
Jackson and Hughes to Sydney for 1st and 3rd round pick or 1st and player swap.
Shulz for 3rd to 4th rounder, dreaming maybe but you never know.
Mc Mahon 3rd round pick to Saints or part trade for Ball ?
Edwards to Adelaide for 2nd round pick.
JON for 4th rounder, someone might think they can turn him around. ;D
Raines 4th round or Gold Coast next year for 2nd round.

No one will want any of the duds you have mentioned.

Reading the posts on PRE over the past few weeks it seems we need...not in any particular order:

Ruckmen
Midfielders
Backmen FB and CHB
Forwards CHF and FF

Almost the whole list with one or two exceptions have been labelled for trade or delisting. Does that answer your question?

These players are ones we should look at moving on and will warrant draft picks in my opinion:

Nathan Foley for a mid to late first rounder.
Daniel Jackson for a second rounder.
Shane Tuck for a third rounder.
Jordan McMahon to St.Kilda for a third rounder.
Andrew Raines a third rounder.
Adam Pattison for a third rounder.
Cleve Hughes for a third rounder.
Jay Schulz for a third rounder.

Considering we are in line to get pick 3 or 4, we could get some really good kids out of this, which is what I believe the new coach would be looking at. In saying that, we have salary cap problem in that we cannot afford to scrap too many as we will fall below the 92.5% minimum and that would not be good.

We have at this point of time pick 4, 20, 36, 52, 68, 84.

In my opinion we need a few more draft picks in there for a rebuild. We are going to probably lose Kane Johnson, Joel Bowden, Nathan Brown, Troy Simmonds, Kayne Pettifer and JON already, how many can we lose for kids on a minimum wage? Not too many.

This will be an interesting trade period thats for sure. A lot of crap will remain on the list as necessity, it will take three trade and draft periods to mould the list into what the new coach would want.

All sounds good TB but we would be pushing sh*t uphill to get a third rounder for Hughes.

I think we should definitely look at trading one of McGuane or Moore. We have effectively 4 of the same players in Moore, McGuane, Thursfield and Rance. A second round pick could be obtained IMO.

Seriously.....why would anyone want any of the duds on our list. Many of the guys listed above have shown that they can be lazy, disinterested, inmotivated, soft and lacking the skills that many clubs want. Nobody has expressed interest in the past. Why would anyone want Hughes, Schulz, JON Edwards, McMahon?

We were the only ones stupid to draft them in the first place coz our recruiting department had no idea......

I think you may be right with Hughes, more wishful thinking on my behalf.

I agree with maybe thinking of trading one of the two you mentioned, as I think maybe Jayden Post could also move into the defensive frame. He is a bigger lad being 194cm. Which is what we want and need. Bigger defenders.

As I have said, we can get rid of the lot of our squad without too much worry (Deledio and Cotchin excluded) but we will have restrictions.

If we draft Butcher we could go into the forward line with Butcher, Riewoldt, Morton and Vickery. Defensively we then have Thursfield/Moore, Post, McGuane/Moore and Rance.

Looks good Bob. As much as an extra first rounder would be great I'd keep Foley if Tuck and Jackson are traded. We need someone to go in and get it and Tuck and Foley are by far the best we've got in that regard.

Hopefully because of the 'weak' draft many teams might wanna trade

Obviously we should be looking predominantly at trading for picks
But if the other club only wants a player swap then we shouldn't just discount it
Eg. If the Aints say they are keen on McMuff but are only willing to trade for a player then we should ask for picks first but in the end I would prolly trade for a player

Maybe inquire bout some younger players
If the price is too high thank the other club for their time and move on

We need to be aggressive and offer up most of our list for the right price (I repeat for the right price)

lol at some of the names put forward (Hughes, Raines, McMahon, Schulz) etc.. We are almost the worst side in the comp and would be lucky to get a bar of soap for most of them.

St Kilda took Fiora didnt they and Port wanted Shulz last year, coaches think that can turn some players around so you never know. Especially after the success of St kilda and there recycled players other team might try and copy.

It is a funny game mate, and to get in the mind of 15 other clubs thinking is a very dangerous assumption.

St.Kilda are after Jordan McMahon. Rumors are rife and when quizzed about it, Ross Lyon did not deny the rumor. Why would arguably the best team in the comp want a misfit from the worst team in the comp? Same reason they wanted Aaron Fiora, and more recently, same reason they wanted Farren Ray, when the Bulldogs fans laughed at them.

Assuming that our trash would warrant nothing could mean missing out on getting something, anything at all.

Andrew Raines is highly regarded at some clubs, and has a lot of contacts.

Cleve Hughes was a talented junior, and other clubs know Richmond is a black hole for some talent, they may think with a dearth of Key Position forwards in the draft this season he could be of some value, ditto Schulz.

They may not get any bites, doesn't cost anything to offer them.

Maybe Schulz and or Hughes for Ebert and/or Boak.

Even if Mark Williams smoked all the dope in Port Adelaide, he would still laugh his ass of at us putting that on the table

Besides Foley, it's a good list Bobby. However, instead of asking for 3rd rounders, we should ask for a 2nd rounder first.

If they say no, then "OK we'll take your 3rd round pick".

Sure but don't expect much.
All of the Aints rejects over the past couple of seasons came from more successful clubs than us and a couple aside, most cost them a brass razoo.
Tiger players have a history of attracting zip and given this years debacle I don't see it as much different. Unless we offer genuine quality which most of those names you put forward aren't.

Craig Cameron has his work cut out to attract draft picks to Tigerland at season's end particularly before GC17.

if the draft is as shallow as most say and we cannot get rid of a lot of players in one go - why not just offer up our worst 8 first to see what bites we get. I so dont want to give McMuffin away for nothing - seeing how he cost us so much in the first place. I would go in asking for an early 2d rounder for him and if they say no then tell em they're dreaming (I know it may be me dreaming here!) and move on.Gosh, if we can offer up our duds and have a few snapped up then we are in front already!
