Player exodus

I’m not much into spreading rumour and innuendo, however I did hear from a pretty good source that the Dusty to the swans move is still very much on the cards.

Jack and cotch were going to retire anyway. Tarrant too.
If Broad chooses to leave, so be it. 31 next year.

If Martin asks for a trade, he’s contracted so we should get something in a trade and he’s turning 32 next month.

Pickett retires? He’s 32 before the start of the 2024 season.
Not ideal to lose a heap of experience at once but it is what it is.

I’d be more worried about a Balta, Rioli, Bolton or even Short wanting out.

A lot of these players still have very good mates at the club. Apart from the obvious retirements, players aren’t going to be racing out the door.

This isn’t 1999.

Did they say how much of his salary they’re going to pay and what sort of draft picks they’re going to hand over? Those are the important things in any move of that sort with Dusty.

yep agree.
the players love their place of work.
just listen to the interview, yes Hardwick drove but the club does it brilliantly.
hence why one GWS wanted in, because of the coach but because of the culture.
whilst we have senior heads their the culture will remain.

Cotch - retire
Jack - retire
Tarrant - retire
Broad - trade
Soldo - trade
Dusty - trade (assuming he doesn't want to stay without his mates

Grimes to retire next year

Would be interesting to see if people will support trading Dusty in an effort to climb up the draft order. He would still have value I reckon.

Or alternately, the new coach could make him skipper next year.

Strange post. Rioli, Short and Bolton are all on long term deals. Balta just signed a 2 year extension.

Jack and cotch aren't the same as 5 years ago. Broad could easily be replaced by Gibcus. It's not all doom and gloom. Our list is easily as talented as Collingwood, it's just that we have no confidence and they have complete confidence. It can turn very quickly.
