Pick 53: Jack Graham

If Jack wants to go then the club will get him there. We honour the Richmond Man.
I hope they push a bit harder and get Port to part with a pick of true value that guarantees that we get what we want. Jack would also want that to happen.

Hope he stays - listening to Hardwick and Nank at the BnF - Graham symbolises all they were talking about. I know he gets injured but he goes so hard, and chases and chases. He has a Tiger spirituality about him. No nonsense, no ego, tough, tradesman
Jack's games played so far

2017 last 5 games
2018 18 out of 24
2019 16 out of 25
2020 16 out of 21
2021 22 out of 22
2022 20 out of 23

So he has played 80% of possible games since his debut. He is not Prestia bad, 69% games played, when it comes to being injured.

Misses the odd game here and there (2019 GF ) but is not missing for extended periods. And gets picked top side when available

I would like us to try and get Georgiades as part of the Graham trade. Sell him the dream of playing along side Lynch as our second key forward.

Hard to say whether our coaches have ever given Jack full licence to just hunt the pill, but in the pretty solid body of evidence so far he hasn’t shown much ability to win contested ball when we need him to.

I’m thinking we will approach 2023 with a much more aggressive mindset in midfield - less containment, more contest.

I appreciate some of the arguments on here, they’ve been good ones. But a man like Jack Graham doesn’t just up and tour Alberton for no reason.

RFC may want him to stay (I want him to stay), but our recruiting strategy speaks volumes.
His B&F finish suggests he struggled this year.

Its Georgiadis that good? Isn't he a bit short for a KPF position (only 192 I think - though I think thats the same height as Charlie Curnow?)

I suspect we will be paid less than we would all want for Jack, though he is contracted. For me, we need to try and get Ports Pick 8.

Even if it was something like Graham and 12 for 8 and the Amon pick (probably 2nd round), so a marginal upgrade on our 1st and the Amon pick. We probably think its unders.

I see Pick 8 as being key for the Taranto trade, it seems right around the mark for a straight trade. Then we need to deal with Hopper separately. Probably our F1 (or 19) and a player.

Keeping a 1st rounder this year, 8 or 12 (which will end up being 9 and possibly 14 due to Brisbane F/S's) and our 2023 1st rounder intact will be the goal.

I can't really see a scenario where we can keep both a 2022 and 23 1st rounder and bring Taranto and Hopper in though. We might be able to structure it to get 1 (and thats where getting our hands on a top 10 pick is important)

Interrupted pre season.

Sounds like he wants to go home for family reasons, isn't being pushed out due to Hopper and taranto coming.

We won't get in his way, family first.

Port's pick 8 for Graham and pick 30 is fair. Even though he is contracted we won't play hard ball unless we get low balled.

don't we need him ? why is he going? he is contracted and we need him in our midfield
we are trying to build our midfield .i.e the 2 GWS guys .who would be handy ........why get 2 in and lose 1?

makes no sense to me ..........Want him to stay .we will never get the pick we want - pick 8 or what we should get from the AFL ............

he is proven afl midfielder .great age .future is so bright for him and us .a draft kid is an unknown draft kid v seasoned AFL player .comparing apples to oranges

Top the midfield up with Tarranto & Hopper but may lose Graham, not ideal , but Ross may have overtaken him in the pecking order late in the season anyway.

As others have said can't let him go for nothing like Butler etc if he chooses to go.

I don’t really want to see Jack go but I can understand it if he does.
In the end if trading him out allows us to keep a decent draft pick or two over the next couple of years and bring in Taranto and Hopper then that is a decent result for us.

Hardwick said a Fan favorite was leaving. Here it is Graham wants to go home. He has integrity and will honor his contract if a trade to suit Richmond is not fair.

Thats a Richmond Man.
