Pick 53: Jack Graham

Hinted in the after game interview that he prefers to play mid but will accept playing wherever he's told.

Can we just cement him mid.

His speed today was impressive. I thought it was Marlion a couple of times today. Fully fit he is a star.

Spot on
Wish people would cease with the “looks like he’s running in treacle” type lines.
Yeah - his running style is far from graceful - but gee he covers ground and is quick when it counts.
Excellent game.

Had a brilliant game yesterday, ran super hard both ways. I noticed in the last few minutes, it showed that he's left everything on the pitch, he looks stuffed in the last few minutes which shows how hard he worked all over the pitch.

Yeah it's strange. Some days he looks super quick, other days looks like he's running in quick sand.
I think it’s fitness , when he is fully fit his ability to run and run is his biggest strength

If it isn’t quite there he looks inferior

Does he get a Brownlow vote - 30 posies, 6 tackles - best game of the year by a long shot.
Hun stats also had him at about 85 on the pressure scale, massive. Fridge absolutely worked himself to a stand still against Colonwood, as he does most games. Flubbed a few possies during the game, but I've yet to see a player anywhere ever who doesn't flub a few.

He played his best game for the year but he needs to make this his standard. He has too many games where he goes missing for too long. Hopefully this game can kick start his season.

He made an interesting comment when interviewed by the RFC media. Yesterday was the first game in a while where he played as a pure mid. Other weeks he has been either on a wing or half forward.

So what?
It not how he "looks" that's important when he's running - it's whether he gets from A to B (and onwards to C D E etc) in time and in good condition. He does that.

Yep. I saw and heard it too. He wants to be in the middle but will accept been played where he's told to.

Loved that little spin he did on the ball after roving off Nank.

Had an interrupted pre season, and I don’t think he really had the conditioning to play games out at the start of the season. He’s basically done his pre season over the first few rounds of the season.

That’s the thing to me. He is Jekyll and Hyde. Sometimes he looks quick and slick and at others looks like that Eel guy swimmer from the olympics. Sometimes his kicking is sublime, other times it’s woeful. At times you think he is a future captain and others I think he can’t be as he isn’t best 22. He is prone to the dumb free. (Although to be fair we have plenty prone to that).
He can’t really play anywhere but mid.

I remember seeing hes top speed a couple of years ago in a game and it was up near 35 kph which is quick , the Fox goes at about 38 and his the quickest footballer in Australia.

IMHO I don’t think it’s rocket science more physical science why he looks slower at times , it’s probably got a lot to do with how much ground he covers at high speed putting on pressure or tackling , it’s no real surprise he can’t be at full tilt for a 100 minutes .

Very good game

It shouldn't be a surprise that our form lifts when Graham gets moving, Lambo returns, Cotch's legs go back in time by 2 years, Lynch jumps and clunks, Dusty returns, and MRJ provides forward pressure.
