Phantom Drafts

Knightmare's mock on BF had us getting Billings as our first round and Hourigan in the second round. I liked the sounds of that.

Geez, I wil be shocked in Lennon goes outside top 10.

It's early days I know but I have a lot of guys in the mix for a top 10 spot. I'm not knocking him but there is some depth this year.

Any of Billings, Lennon, or Salem, and I'd be happy.

Yeah, that's my three at this stage. Luke Dunstan also is one that I like but think he goes top 5-7.

are there any compo/priority picks activated this year? that push us even later in the draft?

If he gave us Eli Templeton in the 2nd round & Dayle Garlett in the 4th ------------ PERFECT RESULT

*Marcus Bontempelli
*Jonathon Marsh
*Blake Acres
*Dayle Garlett

Would Be a Fantastic Haul

Well yeah 4 top 30 players would be good. ;D

I like the look of Cameron McCarthy (broke his leg at Etihad) in the U18 comp for WA, good strong forward who can take the mark. Would work well down with TV, Jack/ McBean?

True, but I think that Boyd is a legitimate chance to slip to pick #3. The Dees seriously need midfielders, and they have Clarke, Dawes, and Hogan up forward. There's a big chance of GWS having Patton, Cameron, and Franklin in 2014 too.

Assuming no trades are done above pick 3, then I do believe that Boyd could fall to 3. But I think a trade will be done.

IMO, Melbourne should trade down in this draft and try and get an extra first rounder. They should hire Francis Jackson for a few weeks and aim to trade down to where they think Sheed will still be available.

He would be a great get for them. Midfield talent they could desperately use, and oozes leadership.

This draft looks to have some later first round gems, and if the Demons have a good draft, they can certainly rebuild from here.

Billings and then Hartung for me, cant see either sliding to us though.

Hartung beat Bradley Hill's beep test record at the combine today.

Looks like North will have to snare father/son Luke McDonald with their first round pick (before ours).

Billings probably not, Hartung is a very good chance to be around.

Yeah i expect Billings to be gone by our 1st pick, and well Hartung wont be there for our 2nd pick.

Too much of a reach with our 1st? Would we be passing over better talent?

I expect us to be all over Salem

Hartung will be there abouts, I'm predicting he'll be top 20, it just comes down to what type we are looking for. Salem represents something we need though, that is a quality distributor with a fierce defensive side. Bontempelli must also come into the equation now that he's just shy of 193cm, I was worried he was a bit of a tweener earlier in the season but he could well become a highly attacking key defender.

Question for Gus - How is Bontempelli's burst speed? I realise his sprint times were a little lack luster but I'm curious about his first few steps.
