Dimma's unwavering support for players is an asset to the RFC. There does come a time however, where those players through aging and the grind of AFL games taking a toll plus new rules lose their effectiveness.
Structures have to evolve to keep up with the new rules with bigger faster bodies who have silky skills an absolute must in the midfield now. Talls in key positions who can take contested marks are a must but so is speed at their feet.
The current Richmond team has these but it's looking tired and aged. Fill up depth players are not providing the necessary skill level and appear outclassed in many a contest.
If wins came from statistics we should have beaten Adelaide yesterday as we won a vast majority of the stats, except the efficiency in the forward line stood out like dogs balls. We had 10 extra entries into our 50 for less scoring shots. Dimma's game of forward at all costs and bang it long for the aging can't jump tall forwards to mark or bring it to the ground for our slowing mosquito forwards is too easy to defend against. Plus our midfield delivery like this is not premiership standard for the new evolving AFL game.
We need an assistant coach who understands the new game and can bring a tactical advantage to our style of play.
Because like sticking with aging players Dimma is sticking to a game plan which too has gone past its use by date.
Dimma proved in the 2017 season he can change - he needs to do it again in 2022........carn the Tiges.....
