North have requested to change their home games form the Docklands to the G
I hope that doesnt mean we have to pick up the slack if the Roos leave the Docklands :fire

A few posters on here may have no issue with transferring all our home games to the dump.

As long as the Dump is in Melbourne, who cares ?

Our home is the MCG not the Docklands and surely we have a bigger supporter base than North.
I can see it now North v Frockers at the G theyd be lucky to get 10,000 there.

no, as much as i love etihad, i'd still prefer to play the majority of our home games at the G. i'm happy either a 7/4 or 8/3 split

Not a fan of Etihad, football is an out in the elements sport. Dome feels like a manufactured atmosphere. Doesn't come close to the MCG for me.
MCG home games please, stuff the Dome.

At least they might make some money

Doubt it you need around 29,000 to break even at the G. North would be lucky to get 20,000 to their games.
If it wasnt for the AFL constantly bailing them out theyd be extinct

Yes serious, not all of them, but would rather play a couple of home games against low drawing interstate sides at a neutral venue for lots of cash. Even better would be selling games interstate when we are playing team who have Etihad as their home stadium. Why should we play our home games at their home stadium?

Me being the know it all that I am have said for years that the AFL should have kept Princes Park (ignore the Carlton thing) for low drawing games such as when Freo and Port visit here – you only need about 10,000 -12,000 there to make a profit and you could stop playing those games at Docklands that bleed the clubs money.

The AFL were stupid enough to create a stadium duopoly and then they are surprised when these stadiums try and use their market power to effectively drive up prices (i.e. amount they make) – what did they expect?! It is just not efficient to be playing games at huge stadiums that are only ever going to draw 20,000 tops, which makes North's request even moe bizarre.

This situation has been a long time coming.

On this 'me mum' told me she read a thing in the local paper about the playing of AFL games back at Vic Park and how good an idea she thought that was. Has anyone heard this floating around anywhere at all?

I think that may have been for Collingwood's VFL side. :)
