Noah Balta - Welcome to Tigerland

Rance may well have left the field but his heart is still at Tigerland when he nurtured Balta as his heir apparent. It certainly can't be pure chance that we see so many Rance traits in Balta.

I have him second behind Dusty as the greatest Tigers I've watched.

While Dusty has added 2 Norm Smiths since Rance’s last game, I still can’t definitely put Dusty above Rance as the greatest Tiger I’ve watched in my lifetime... I really wish he returned, there was something very special about walking home from the MCG after Rance had played like a God in defence.

Although, once the dust has settled, Dusty’s 4th goal in the 2020 GF probably does put him in front.

The one thing in Dustys favor is the timing of his best form, in the premiership teams ,

Rances best block of form was prior to that run of premierships and unfortunately for him , its probably not going to be remembered as well even though there might be a debate there

Love this kid.
Other clubs are now looking back at the 2017 Draft and wondering 'why didn't we pick him up"?

I reckon he already gone past Rance. More reliable by foot and doesn't seem to drop his bundle like Rance.

We need him and Bolton signed ASAP

Gone past him.
If i had to choose between the 2.
Balta by a mile.
While Balta has massive upside n potential, I might wait until he has three or four AA's to his name plus, and most importantly. Proves to be a standout player in a mediocre side rather than carried along by a champion side. Then I reckon I might put him up alongside Tross as an elite player.
Kids got a fair journey to travel yet.

Balta and Rance at the same age probably Balta ahead. But but a looong way to go until Noah reaches the elite champion status of Alex. But Noah ha the potential no doubt about that!

It’s hard to fathom that we lost a top three full back of all time and won two more flags.

It‘s even harder to fathom that we are contemplating the very replacement we had in the shed waiting could be 80% the player he replaced.

Balta, man, Balta.

Zips has hated Rance ever since the 2018 PF. The post is disappointing, but not surprising.

He was disgraceful that night.
He got pantsed by Degoey and dropped his head.
His game cost us big time.
Rance was a good defender, but he got beaten the same way every time. Anyone who could take a contested mark would destroy him.

The match committee cost us the match, players that should have been rested in the lead up the the finals were not and players who were ill were played.

Atsbury was spent before he took the field so the load fell onto others to cover for him.

Yes, true. It was basically the perfect storm.

I watched the 2017 GF today.

It's easy to forget how great Rancey was for us. He was real close to BOG early when we needed him.
Totally agree Coburg.

I just watched the first half and he would have been right in the discussion for the Normie. At half time I would have gone Houli, Rance, Dusty.

The great thing about Balta is he’s good enough to generate discussion comparing him with Alex Rance.

The fact it’s even a discussion at all says a lot.

Again i like Balta alot and think he has enormous upside but i dont think he is.

Comparing in regards to athletic traits etc perhaps, but i think generally the footy public who criminally underrate Alex would laugh if anyone suggested balta had him covered.

As above i think a few forget how amazing he was for 5-6 years, he was human and had some bad qtrs or games, without a doubt the best backline player i have seen in my 46 years watching the game.

yep. We forget how good he was. He was an absolute wall.

Love Noah - if he turns out 75% as good as Rance that's better than 9/10 key backs in the comp already.
