No more Tiger games-depression setting in

I miss it, no doubt.

This year for me, was even more different, spent some time in New York this year so I missed a few games. And I reckon the fixture this year was just messed up. Chunks of home games, then a stack of away games. Hated the sold games & the replacement games in the Ponsford.

I find summer somewhat boring on the weekends. Nothing to build your weekends around. Harry Kewell has given me something to look out for but nothing that spraks passion. And with it looking like there will be no NBA season till the New Year at the earliest, this is looking bleak. Will spend more time on the beach (6-10am and 5-9pm are the best beach times), catch up on movies and go through the normal things of Spring Carnival, Xmas, New Years (over rated) and talk more rubbish about football on here till round 1 on the NAB.

BRING ON THE DRAFT!

Yeah, the EPL helps a bit but it's too repetitive.....same old, same old...in every season.

I don't follow NBA closely anymore, so the NFL helps until early January along with some College Basketball and Football......although I'd enjoy watching these live in the US rather than on TV.

Maybe Adolf should start a Summer AFL season..........Beach Footy ;D

I don't mind the offseason to be honest. A chance to enjoy the nice weather on weekends without the stress of the Tigers eating me up inside.

Nice evenings after work in daylight savings where you can get outside and exercise isn't such a chore. BBQs, catch-ups with friends, trade week, numerous Christmas p!ss ups, the Spring Racing Carnival, the Grey Smith Bar on Boxing Day, Christmas with the family, time off work, catching up with former teammates over beers at cricket club past players days, Milo cricket on a Friday night with beers and a BBQ, swimming at the pool, going to the beach etc. etc.

How can anyone possibly get depressed with all of that????

All teams are back on even footing and we can live in hope, compared to the footy season where hopes are usually dashed by round 5.

x2

I get the feeling this pre season is going to be a long painful one. Year 3 coming up and we're expecting to finish in the finals. There will be greater scrutiny, debate and anguish over every decision or non-decision the club makes during the off season than there has been the last couple of seasons.

I am very flat, I miss the weekend excitement, the post game analysis and then the late week build up.

EPL and A-league is no help as I don't have Foxtel, NFL is my normal refuge but my team has started 0-2. My only distraction from being a good father and husband is UFC.

No time for depression, a full season of cricket about to explode.

Must say, by the time cricket season finishes, I need at least a months rest.

This cricket season promises to be a bigger challenge than ever.

Really? I think the level of scrutiny will be just as ludicriously high as it has been the last few years. The interenet age results in the over-analysis of everything. The Collins for Grigg thread and the Miller thread are both 140 pages long and we did pretty well out of both. There has been much more discussion about rookie draft pick Miller than there has about Lids past 4 seasons combined.

I miss the routine of footy, picking the team, previews, watching games, getting depressed, injury reports, Coburg. Off-season is a good chance to re-charge the batteries, looking forward to a-league and NBL more than usual.

I can handle this time of the year . There are still finals , then the trade week , draft etc . Its the time from the final lists through to the first pre season game that I hate . Nothing new happens , its just waiting for the next season .

We need more "Juicy" Trade Rumours.

I have a clear life. There are 4 seasons:

Football
Spring Carnival
Cricket
Autumn Carnival
Football again.

My wife loves it.

Is that why she is # 3?

Not a horse racing fan.
Love the animal but not the sport.
I do watch the Melbourne Cup though.
Cricket is no where near as good as it used to be.

Melbourne Victory is my summertime sport.

The best team sports are played in Winter.

Baseball gone off that .
9 innings and a score of 2-0 yawn.

Sorry Richmond provide me with more entertainment than anything else sporting wise on the planet.

Can't beat it.

The walk to the train, the meet up at The Cricketers, getting excited about the game, then the walk to Richmond Paddock.

Then the social club in the heart of the G.

Can't top that.

I've played drums at a Melbourne Cup -main after function the day Media Puzzle won.

Meh ,pretty boring if you ask me.

Rich people in suits.
Hot girls chasing the rich people in suits lol.

Alot of dodgy Andy D's walking around.

Yeah college sports would be fun but no Richmond still for me.

Maybe in the yellow and black end of Borussia Dortmund at a home game.

there was a richmond last year richmond university made the ncaa tounament and they did ok from memory

Not that interested in watching the Australian team TBH but playing cricket takes up my attention once finals are over.

I play a low grade so the amount of energy expended playing cricket is similar to the amount expended watching footy. It's a good time killer though.

As Hobbes said, "Peace is merely preparation for the next war". As Go Toigs says, "Summer is merely preparation for the next season". I love me footy, but I love summer and the break between seasons too......anticipation is part of the package.

Not much time for rest and recuperation these days as now the Aussie Cricket Team is full of duds and gets done regularly the calls of dud delist carry on throught the summer sebatical as opposed to the last 15 years where Tiger fans could immerse themselves in the glow of victory as the Aussie Cricket Team Hammered all and Sundry.

Yep the decline of the Aussie cricket team does make the summer less enjoyable than it once was.

l dont enjoy cricket as mush as l used to and l think it is because you can see it all year round instead of just in summer when l was growing up

I used to be a huge cricket watcher. Then 20/20 came in and I hated that. Then one-day cricket became crap. Then the tests started with the referral bull.

Don't watch it any more unless its the local 200th grade team at the park. Watching some kids play with a few older blokes to help them is very cathartic.

Miss my Tigers though.
