NHL

I used to be into it in the olden days and am just getting back into it now it is on Cable. I lived in Michigan for some time and am thus a Wings fan. I have been to a fair few games at the Joe in my time.
I have a good mate playing in the Danish league at the moment and doing really well. He is a really good player but just a bit undersized for the NHL, though has been very close. He did win an NCAA championship with Michigan though, which was cool.
A teammate of his from Michigan now plays for the Wings and another for Dallas I think.

Ducks just beat Wings in OT in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals....hopefully Wings can hit back in Anaheim

Yeah, Josh Langfeld is with the Wings now. Marty Turco I think is still with Dallas, Jeff Jillson is with Buffalo. I don't know if any of the other guys ever made it to the NHL but i am sure a number of them would be floating around in the minors.

Wow ! Yes, Turco is still the no.1 goalie in Dallas although another early playoff exit may change that.....

Ducks v Sens in the Stanley Cup Finals - starts next Tuesday 29th May 10am our time....looks like the games will be LIVE on Foxtel ;D

The puck is about to drop on the Stanley Cup Finals - Game 1 Ottawa @ Anaheim....GO SENS !

Wow ! Sens SCORE in first minute !!!

Gutted....Ducks get up 3-2

Thank you Kevin Lowe for signing Sheldon Souray ! Now we just need a forward or 2 and we are back in contention !

Hockey Pool

All, if anyone is interested, I can put you in touch with the dude that runs this Hockey Pool. There are dudes from all over the world in it, 20 teams maximum, Ive been in it for two years (and won nothing!) but it is a lot of fun. Due to the cost I get my mates to "buy in" as a syndicate, I just do the draft and any winnings (if there were some) get split. If you have any questions about it, feel free to pm or e-mail me. Cheers.

Details below were for last years, this season will be happening in late September I believe. I have taken the contact details out, if you want in I will put you in touch with the Canuck that runs it here in Adelaide.

DETAILS:

For those inter-state, over-seas or unable to make it in person we will be using MSN Messenger, the address is XXXXXXXX
If you are planning to draft online please be ready 30 minutes prior to the start time.

Entry Fee & Payments:
$150.00 Per Team (Cash, Money Order, Cheque, Credit Card or Direct Deposit).
Payments must be received no later then 25th Sept. Make cheques payable to XXXXXXX
Credit Card payments add 5% (Visa, Master Card only).

Pool Size & Teams:
Maximum 20 Teams
Each team will draft a roster of 12 players (10 active and 2 reserves).
After your 12th and final pick you must nominate your 2 reserve players.
Each team must have at least 3 defensemen on its active roster at all times.

Draft Order:
A draw will decide the drafting order. (Saturday September 30th time TBA)
The order will go Team 1 through Team 20 and then in reverse order and so on.
Each team will have 1 Minute to make its selection each round.

Roster Changes & Change Meetings:
Meetings will be held on the Nov 7th, Dec 5th, Jan 9th, Feb 6th and Mar 13th @ 7:30pm Adelaide time, 8:00pm Australian Eastern Time, 10:00pm New Zealand, 1:00am PST (North America), 4:00am EST (North America) and 6:00pm China, 11:00am Netherlands.

Changes to your roster can be made at these meetings.
Teams can change players from their reserve list, from undrafted players or players dropped by other teams.
When adding a player to your active roster you only get the player’s points from then on.
You keep the points of the dropped player for the time he was on your active roster.
Each team will have 1 Minute to make their selection each round.

Order of Changes:
At each meeting the team with the lowest points will be able to make the first change, and the order of changes will go through to the team with the highest points.
This order will be repeated until we go an entire round without a change.
If two or more teams have equal points the lower numbered team will select first.
Your team number is determined by what number you drafted in the first round of the original draft (so if you had 3rd pick you are team #3).

Change Fee:
Straight change from your reserve list $10.00
Drafting a new player $15.00
Fees must be received within 5 days of the meeting.
Teams that have outstanding fees will not be eligible for weekly or monthly prize money.

Duration of Pool:
The pool runs for the regular season only (October 4th – April 8th North American dates).
Points:
Your active players get one point for a goal and one point for an assist.

Prize Money:
Weekly prize for most points in a week $10.00 (season runs for 27 weeks).
The week will run from Tuesday to Monday (North American dates).

Since my son started playing ice hockey I've taken an intrest in the NHL.My son is a keen Calgary Flames supporter so I thought I'd follow the Vancouver Canucks. Thus far this season my Canucks have won 18/32 so they are having a reasonable season.Any other NHL followers out there?

After a good game yesterday the Canucks get thumped 5-0 by the San Jose sharks.Pretty tough having to back up the next day.

Bruins, Sharks and Wings continuing to roll along nicely. Shaping up as a belter of a finals series when it comes around in April. Go Boston.

My Canucks got beaten by the lowly ranked Atlanta today.Disapointing result.

Edmonton without Hemsky is like the Tiges without Lids ;)

I like the Sharks this year, if Nabokov gets hot they will be hard to beat. Boston has been muey impressive though for sure.

Don't if Sharks are great performers in the playoffs but they do look a good outfit.
