Just watching Ottawa @ New Jersey live on Sopcast in Game 2 of their playoff series....Heatley scored for the Sens with 27 seconds remaining in regulation time to force OT....they have just started OT now Sens on the pp....

Any more NHL comments would be great....who is your favourite team ??

Blackhawks fan here Goodwood.

Have been since the days of Probert, Russell and Chicone....the good ol' days when the 'Hawks would beat you into submission.

Now they just lose!

Lived in Vancouver for a year and went regularly although I never liked the Canuckleheads.
Back then the Avalanche had their dynasty with Sacic,Forsberg ect.

Whos your tip for Lord Stanley?

That would have been great living in Vancouver for a year and going to games....I thought Chicago may have been better with Khabibulin in net but he doesn't seem to be going as well since he left Tampa....

I like Buffalo for the Cup...although if the Sens can get there I like the Heatley, Alfredsson, Spezza line, they could do some real damage....anyone but Anaheim and I will be happy !

I really lost interest in NHL after the whole lockout drama.

Even bought a Penguins jersey when I was right into it.
Played it on the PC on the heaps too.
Had epic battles between Devils/Penguins with a mate, playing a best of 21 over a weekend in realtime was crazy.

Its way up on my list to do when I explore the USA.

Can you give me a quick rundown on what major things have happened in the last few years please?

Any new teams or young guns to watch out for?

Like struggs I used to be a mad keen NHL fan too.got interested in it first when living in Sweden. It's like footy is to us over there.

Barrack for the Avalanche and was a big Peter Forsberg fan too,saw them a few times when i lived an hour from Denver in their glory days.

Went to a few Cannucks games in Vancouver.

Saw some great minor league games in France, punch ons galore.

Don't follow it so much these days.

Probably the 2nd best sport to watch live IMO(after footy of course) TV doesnt do it justice.

I got into it in 2002 not long before the lockout so I was desperate for it to start back up again....

If you still have that Pens jersey, see if you can get Crosby 87 or Malkin 71 on the back....they would be the two outstanding young guns up and coming in the whole NHL right now and Pittsburgh have both of them....Alexander Ovechkin is the other he is with Washington.....

Since the lockout they have made a few changes....they cut out the red line so players can make longer passes, the refs are much stricter on calling penalties so there are more powerplays and more 5 on 3's and therefore a lot more scoring too....

Boston made a stunning trade last season....Joe Thornton to San Jose for 3 players....he is now starring on a line with Jonathon Cheechoo for the Sharks....

You are lucky to be going over, hope you get to see some games....I can't wait to get back to Canada to see another game !

Yeah I was blown away by the game live....didn't see a fight in the NHL game I went to but plenty in the minor league game we saw....hard to believe it's just part of the game....

Forsberg started this season out in Philly then he got traded to Nashville at the deadline as Philly were out of the playoff run....he seems to be troubled by injuries a lot these days unfortunately...

That would have been cool living so close to Denver !

I am an avalanche fan too. I used to follow it quite closely but have lost interest (and time) of late. Would love to be able to watch it a bit more again.

Wow another Avs fan ! They do show some games on Foxtel, but I usually either download the games as a torrent or it's awesome to watch it live on Sopcast if it's up and running smoothly....

Same here!
Saw a few games when I was in Sweden, at the Globen....(the Swedes I know are Djurgarden fans).
Did you support any particular team in the Eliteserien?

I was at a HV71.v.Brynas game, packed to the rafters...everybody standing....and right behind me were a couple of Aussies.
Doesn't matter where you go, there is always an Aussie around!

Went to a couple of games in a lower division, to see a team called the Tingsryd Tigers:

Agree with you.....TV doesn't do it justice.

Have always been a Rangers fan.....but in the late 80's/early 90's when they used to show a weekly highlights package of the NHL on the ABC, I had a soft spot for the Penguins (yellow and black colours), with class players like Jaromir Jagr and Mario Lemieux.

Jagr has just given the Rangers a 1-0 lead on the pp looking to tie their playoff series 2-2 against Buffalo

Ah good one Liverpool.

No I never followed a local Swedish team while I lived there. But alot of the fellas i drank with did, they followed Timra. The World championship was on not long after I first got there that Sweden won.A young Forsberg was the star and his dad was the coach.

Where I was living was a bit of a backwater in North central Sweden near Harjedalen and Ostersund if you know that area?

Evo,

No, I never got into that area of Sweden....gee, you must like the cold, going up there though! :-\
I only went as far north as Gavle.....about 2 hours north of Stockholm...I spent more time in southern Sweden.

But the Swedes (and their rivals, the Finns) sure love their hockey! :clap
The rivalry/hatred between both nations supporters when Sweden play Finland, is equal to us Aussies playing the Poms/Kiwis in sport.

Yeah,it's top stuff eh.

We used to go across the border to drink in Norway a fair bit, alchohol was cheaper over their for some reason.Plenty of classic Kiwi v. Aussies type stouches in the pubs.

Whenever the Swedes got drunk they'd always stick it up the Norwegians for kissing up to Hitler during the war, punch ons would always ensue. (Me and my Aussie mate always played Switzerland) :hihi

Nothing funnier than drunken Scando's

Gomez...SCORES ! Devils take the early 1-0 lead looking to get back on track v Sens....Sens ahead 3-1 in the series....

Watching live on Sopcast Anaheim @ Detriot Game 1 of Western Conference Finals....Wings ahead 1-0 in the second....nice fight just took place....Thornton from the Ducks just pounded the Wings' Markov into submission....Wings win 2-1 what a finish to that game....

Oh wow ! Briere has tied the Sens v Buffalo game 3-3 with 5.8 seconds left...now for OT...someone please score and end it so it doesn't lead into the Burgers game !

Perfect timing Joe Corvo...a one-time blast from the blue line gives Sens a 2-0 series lead Buffalo in massive strife...now c'mon Burgers !
