NFL & NCAA Football Threads

Congratulations Mops. A stellar last round of tipping has seen you come from the clouds to grab the win on the line. Kiwi like!! Thanks for running the comp; great fun. Now on to the Drofbardi; looking forward to it!

And how about those mighty Bills!! Nab the 2 seed and now to smack the Steelers in the wildcard round.

Congratulations Moops on 2 fronts: one for winning the MoopsClelland Trophy for a 2nd year running and the other for conducting an outstanding season. Extremely enjoyable. Winning with those penalties was no mean feat.

Bad luck Miles. You were looking good. Very very close runner up.

Personally, whilst doing myself in with a 0-6 effort a few weeks ago, (still reckon I should have got a prize for that), I am still happy with my 4th placed finish as it ensures again, that I beat the hapless Pidley and his grandson Waldo. Hah hah hah… what a pair of duds.

Bills are the ultimate wild card in the play offs Rids.

Could go on a big run if Allen keeps the interceptions to a minimum.

Listen Spudford; I will once again destroy you in the time dishonoured Drofbardi competition. I look forward to receiving that ridiculous trophy after the Super Bowl. And celebrating a Bills Super Bowl victory.

I'll give you that one Riddles. Can't see us winning this one at Snowy Mt Buffalo. At least get to watch how Rudolph plays 1 more time this season.

I have no doubt about that !

Bring on the Drof, while you two snipe away at each other I will complete the double !
We need an Honour Board with the list of Champions in the MoopsClelland and Drofbardi. So we can keep track of history.

Heh heh heh…it will look funny without Pidley on it.

Welcome everybody. The 2024 Drofbardi Trophy is here again !

A number of past contributors and participants on the NFL thread have been copied in. But anyone can play so beat the Summer sporting abyss blues by participating, and see if you can get yourself onto the time honoured PRE NFL BOARD OF CHAMPIONS which comprises winners of the MopsClelland and Drofbardi trophies each year - the only two majors of NFL tipping - the MopsClelland being like the regular season NFL League Championship and the Drofbardi being the FA Cup of the NFL playoffs.

Current and past Champions:

2022 Drofbardi Trophy - Redford P. Reds
2023 MopsClelland Trophy - Mopsy
2023 Drofbardi Trophy - Ricemagic
2024 MopsClelland Trophy - Mopsy
2024 Drofbardi Trophy - ??????

Congrats again to Moops for going back to back and winning the 2024 MopsClelland. The Drof still alludes him though. Can he win the trophy this year ? Or now that Ricemagic is on the mend, can he make a hero’s defence ? And what a trophy it is by the way.

Like last year, the format goes like this:

Wild Card Round - 6 games x 2 points each using the spread. Simple. 12 points up for grabs.

Divisional Round - 4 games x 3 points each using the spread. First game of the round, receiving yards over/under for 1 player from each team x 3 points each. 18 points up for grabs.

Conference Championship - 2 games x 4 points each game using the spread. Same as above for receiving yards x 4 points each and then also rushing yards. 24 points up for grabs.

Super Bowl - 1 game x 8 points using the spread. Same as above for both receiving and rushing yards but also QB passing yards and at x 5 points each. 38 points up
for grabs.

Has to be first game of the round for individual over/unders because that’s the game that comes out with the earliest individual prop markets.

The Wild Card Round and spreads will be posted tomorrow morning. Cut off for entry being 8.30 am Sunday morning.

Let‘s get it oooooon !

Niners do a Ravens.

Weakest number 1 seeds in years.
What are you on about, they didn't need the win and would still finish the season the top seed and a bye.

You must have missed those Sharon Rodgers years, where they must have been top seed at least 6 times in his career and would blow every playoff series. Poor Sharon you knew would blow bad in the Packers.
2021 - bye then loss to the 49ers 13-10. (lost a playoff game versus Jimmy G :ROFLMAO:)
2020 - bye then beat Rams first playoff game, then lost to Tampa Bay in the Conference Final
2019 - here we go again. A bye then beat Seattle before Niners smashing 37-20 to Kaepernick, a one season wonder

That's 3 years in a row the Packers had a bye first round and then Packed up before getting a Super Bowl appearance.

Weak as with Karen Rodgers :p

P.S. Michigan, the weakest number 1 seed tomorrow man ;):censored: Good luck champ 🤞

They’ve lost 5 games. They’ve got gaps. The only thing in their favour is that everyone else does too. And that’s why it’s a weak year. Alternatively you could call it competitive, but I reckon it’s weak, with no real ultra strong teams.

Last game lots of the starters, especially on offence were rested. The last round loss and the first loss in the 3 losses in a row earlier in the year were from the rookie kicker missing kicks he should make, especially the extra point and field goal he missed on the weekend.

The only area's I'm worried about are him, and can Kyle Shanahan actually step up and win a Super Bowl. Not freeze like he has done in the past with the Falcons and us in Super Bowl's 🤞:notworthy:

Yeah I dunno. I think it goes deeper than that.

They are something like 14th in the league for defending the pass. They can’t get a sack to save themselves at times despite a much vaunted D Line. And when they don’t get pressure on, the secondary looks vulnerable.

The other issue they’ve got is against high quality defences. They were all at sea v the Browns and Ravens. Purdy has been great but he looked jittery in both games.

9 Pro Bowlers - 4 on offence, 5 on defence and a few emergencies as well. So they're spread out better than people think.

3rd best defence in points allowed, 4th in offence.

Ravens are the biggest worry for NFC teams. If they can actually get out of the AFC Championship into a Super Bowl, Lamar is 20-1 versus NFC teams as a starter, that would definitely be a confidence booster to them playing a NFC team in the SB they may have beaten 2-3 times :(

Browns did a good job against us but that was the game the kicker missed 2 field goals in a 19-17 loss

All to play for now :notworthy:

Go Harbaugh ;):cupgold

If Allen can limit the brain snaps the Bills could go all the way.
