NAB AFL Draft Combine

A lot of the guys you mentioned didn't do all the tests.

Bourke did an 11.6
Murdoch 14.2
Smith 13.12
Stringer DNC
Stewart 12.1
Hogan 14.2 (not one you asked for)

Shaw and Daniher didn't complete testing

Hope this helps

Just a so, so effort by O'Rourke.

Evo, that's outstanding for a big kid. How old is he?

DNC? Did not compete?

Do you know how Atkins went?

Yes, he did some testing but didn't complete the Shuttle run.

Atkins did a 12.9 which was a bit lower than par.

It's not too bad for a guy who hasn't really spent a lot of time in the midfield.

I am a huge fan of the boy. What's your take on him Gussy?

What are peoples thoughts on Jed Anderson? Is he worth downgrading our pick 9 for say pick 12 if we can add him to the deal?

Cheers dude. I've told him to aim for 14s.

13 1/2. He's pretty quick for a tall and has good stamina. Big season for him next year.

Good footballer. I don't have him that high but he has above average athleticism and measured in at 185.6cm

His combine results were poor but he came in with a bit of an injury and didn't do all the tests. Tenacious tackler and I certainly have him in the top 20.

Shuttle runs are good but players need to be more well rounded with their running.

Here is one to aim for.

Tim O'Brien
193.2cm tall, 5mtr 1.07 70% 10mtr 1.75 73% 20tmr 2.94 78% Agility 8.30 98% and Shuttle run 12.5

I rate repeat sprints highly because it shows the players ability to get to a contest and push hard for the 2nd and 3rd effort and O'Brien went 25.19 87%

Once he improves his fitness level (and that will come) he has the ideal balance of speed and agility for a player of his size. His marking is a feature as well.

Anyway, I won't bore you all with stats. They are really just tie breakers after all.

I reckon he is the perfect type to add class to our half forward line and end up a onballer.

Little bit of Dale Thomas is his game.

Luckily club's don't take player's,just on there combine result's .
O'brien is certainly an athlete, but he does lack in contested ball winning, and hardness.

We will have to disagree.

Just saw Shane Nelson's sprint times and boy is he a jet, 2.82 for the 20 metre and 24.31 in the repeat sprints. I remember Emma Quayle being quizzed on why he was overlooked and she referred to his dodgy kicking, this being despite a 29/30 in the kicking test.

Thought I'd delve deeper and check out his WAFL stats and was shocked to find he averaged 25 disposals (equal 1st for West Perth) and chimed in with 11 goals. I can't find the DE stats so I'm curious to know if any of the WAFL experts could pass comment on his footskills when playing for West Perth this season.

On raw numbers alone, he'd almost be certainty to be drafted, perhaps even as high as the second round.

Shane Nelson:

Date of birth: 11/5/93
Height: 177cm
Weight: 69kg

Rising 20yo - 69 kegs, bullus.

I think those stats are from last year and could be a bit misleading given he had a virus just prior to the Combine, his frame appears to have filled out a bit this year and I'm only guessing but I reckon he's already put on an additional 5kg. One thing's for certain, he's a ball magnet and has already racked up a lazy 42 possessions in one match for West Perth. I reckon it will ultimately come down to kicking efficiency and that's why I'm curious to know what some of the boys in the West think.
