Mike Sheahan can't stand the heat

I read "The Age" everyday only because The Sun is only marginally better than New Idea. Having said that -"The Age" is in decline as a serious newspaper--eg--take any day the first 20 pages is exactly 10 pages of adds-and it is slowly reverting to putting media grabs on its front page. Suppose next year when it stops broadsheeting it will clone into "The Sun".

Can't be bothered reading either The Age or HUN during the week. On the weekend I get "The Australian" (Right Wing view), The Age (Left Wing view) and HUN (comical relief).

The newspapers in this country are CRAP, compared to "The Times" or New York Post, but then when you've got such outstanding knowledgable writers like Mike Sheahan presenting his "expert" opinion and factual advice (*smile*), the writing is on the wall or better yet down the toilet.

Is this about the Age vs HS or Mike Sheehan? I don't buy either but I do read the footy online on both sites.

Two things stick in the mind:
1. HS doorstepping Polak after his accident
2. Sheehan saying 'if I'm rascist, so be it' after witnessing a fight at the Crown Casino last week. A bizarre comment considering he didn't describe the race of any of the participants.

Good journalism should be able to stand up to the scrutiny of amateurs who post comments below an article, but it seems like Sheehan needs protection.

I emailed him earlier in the year about him getting his facts wrong. I think he mentioned that Richmond gave up pick 8 for Polak. He forgot to mention that we also got pick 12 or 13 in the exchange that yielded Jack Riewoldt.

Sheehan replied and agreed that he had it wrong and also mentioned where he sourced the info from that was incorrect. He was very nice in his email.

Have emailed Barrett at the herald sun in the past and he is very aggressive in his responses.
