Membership concerns

A member party at Broady's place?

that'd really be something.

I'd consider a gameless, party at broadys membership

jeez that would be a good party.

hes making a strong case for possibly the ruggedest tiger ever.

I would love that party

everyones Circumstances are different, if you have been impacted by unemployment im sure you’re case would be well made However those that have been fortunate enough to not have been impacted may be inclinedto leave as is , there’s no one size fits all

Let’s face it in the end they do not really care about us member.
They know we the crowds return someone will take up your seat in a blink of a eye.

Clubs are fighting for survival. I believe the clubs that will bounce back quickly are the ones that have their supporters stick fat. I think many will not be able to afford full memberships next year (if things are even back to normal which seems more and more unlikely) so anyone who wants their seats back will get them. People under-estimate what's going on here. I just hope we get back to some sense of normal next year.

Reckon that’s way too harsh and cynical
Club is in an almost impossible situation to minimise the financial disaster of this season and it seems they’ve made options available for members to opt out of membership and obtain refunds if requested.
FWIW I don’t mind the way they’ve gone about it.

Yeah, there'd be plenty of members up and about for an event like that. We've all seen how he likes to celebrate.

So, what are everyone's thoughts now that it's virtually guaranteed that (unless you live in QLD) you won't be able to attend a game?

I pay for my father and I's memberships, and am fine to do so financially (touch wood), but it seems a bit ludicrous for those in more dire fiscal situations.

There were plenty of years where I sat in the cold while my hopes and dreams froze. This is a better experience, and this time the price isn't a mixture of despair and acrimony.

Interesting to see the club is now launching a campaign to reach 100k members again. Nothing really to offer in return however.

Nothing to offer apart from helping our Club survive & thrive

As stated above I'm still paying for my two memberships – but I'm not sure on the optics when trying to reach new members when we're heading to a giant recession. My father is the biggest Richmond fan I've ever met, but if I wasn't paying for his membership, and due to his current circumstances, it'd unfortunately have to be one of the first things to go.

Might be hoping to boost the Qld numbers.

Yep. I know a few qld supporters who are not members that have already signed up for access to tickets. For current interstate members, they should also offer an extended membership with access to all games (currently only limited to two in QLD)

They also seem to be selling something called "United Tiger" where you contribute to paying for members who have had to stop paying, not sure how that works though (they do count them as extra memberships). Does this mean they will put it in a fund to allow some to stay a member if they are currently unable to pay?

Maybe I'll have a better look at the fine print.

What the club is offering is more than fair IMO.

If you want to retain the reserved seats or grand final rights pay up. If you cant you are entitled to a refund. Plenty of people miss out on Grand Final tickets in 2017 & 2019 so only fair to share it around.

Not so much a concern than a question. ... Anyone on here taken the option of putting their AFL Club Support membership into absent status?

Though the AFL says this option allows you to continue to support your club financially. .... I'm curious as to what that $ amount would be. Don't want the club to be shortchanged!

Wondering if anyone has actually completed the process and knows.

I believe I had until August 1st to decide and left it to see if they would make any changes since these options were formulated in May. It appears not!

emailed the AFL yesterday and got an automated reply that they'll get back to me within 20 days.
