Maurice Rioli Jnr

Drafted to Richmond as a father-son selection with pick No. 51 overall at the 2020 AFL National Draft, Rioli Jnr’s two-year extension will further cement his strong affiliation with the Club.

The 19-year-old has booted 15 majors from his first 16 AFL games and is the #1 player in the AFL this season for causing scores from turnovers. Rioli Jnr also ranks #1 at Richmond for tackles per game inside 50, #6 for goals and #8 for goal assists.

Can't wait to see the heat the kid brings defensively in the finals but still needs to tidy up offensively.
No room for fumbling or missed kicks for goal.

Critical to our form shift.

Critical to the way we play.

He's the reason we look Richmondy again. And not the ridiculous Whately version.

and on his Birthday !! (today) - that he also shares with his late father ! GO MRJ - put on those afterburners from the opening bounce.

What I saw yesterday at training he might kick 8 behinds. Couldn't find the middle at all. Was fumbly too. Hope the finals stage switches him on.
I see all that at training too and in game, (fumbly and poor kick), yet somehow he is becoming pivotal, hope he can clean things up a bit in the future.

I figure a lot of that is confidence and experience. This is the part of his game he needs to work on but a lot of that work will be between the ears.
