confidence growing by the week. love him.

his low centre of gravity looks to be his greatest weapon as strange as it sounds.

Will be be able to improve kicking penetration / speed / depth as he matures? Any players that have done this? Struggles outside 35m for goal shooting / field passing IMO.

Very exciting to see the rapid improvement and growing self belief.

Kicking penetration should improve with fitness and conditioning but he’ll never be a long kick.

This is why he reminds me of Higlet, but with more skill and x-factor.

His Dad was one of the best tacklers i have seen at Tigerland next to the Flea. But Mjs bursts are really helpful and team lifting.

He should enjoy the confines of the SCG. Nowhere for the Swans to run. Pencil him in for 10 tackles

The kid is unbelievably quick… I was genuinely surprised when watching him motor!

He’s a little ripper. The more I see of him the more I’m convinced that we have a genuine mid on our hands. I would love to see him attend a few centre bounces. I think he might surprise.

I don’t know he’ll have the kick penetration to operate as a mid… if he was out on a wing I’d not be confident how far forward ball would progress

His kicking for goal was all effort to carry 35m. Didn’t ever think it was an issue.

Who's got a good memory?
I reminded a mate of mine of this story when he mentioned something about MJ the other day.....

I asked him if he recalled me selling him an entire book of raffle tickets in 1987 (I think)

Yes, he said, you sneaky bastard! We both think it was for $50... could be wrong..

Anyway, I said at the time it was a footy club raffle, so he thought it was our local club. .... once he handed over the kanga, I gave him the book and said ....
Thanks shag.... you can fill it out!

It was an RFC fundraiser called "Help us Buy Another Rioli" (or words to that affect.)
I don't know why I'd never thought to bring it up when we drafted Daniel. .... maybe it was meant to be!

The best part is he's a rusted on Carlton supporter. ... now cashed up sponsor!

I remember it, although ‘Help us buy another player like Maurice Rioli’ is what stuck in my memory. Could be wrong though. I remember it was a leaflet with a grainy, photocopied pic of the great man in action on the front.

Lambo only a 40m kick , hasn’t stopped him being deadly in f50 I expect same from mrj

Doesnt need to do that at this stage , way too small to impact there , just keep doing as is , stay close to lynch would be my advice

I see him as a potential Lambo replacement if he can build a decent tank.
Beat me to it ,was just thinking along similar lines ,I’m not so sure about the Lambo part ,

But Will get better again as his tank improves ,

You can really see him blowing sometimes , doesnt stop him putting in the effort though ,

But I think he will have more repeat efforts in him as the motor gets bigger and then he becomes super scary for the opposition

His improvement has been off the charts this year in all areas. We will have to wait a couple more years to see where his ceiling is, but I am predicting very high.

That business Young Maurice does, with the being somewhere else and then teleporting under the ball, twisting upon winning it, breaking the line, if only by a half metre, and then sending it forward to a team mate in space. That business. Who does anybody have who can do that?

We do. (Only us.) And Young Maurice does that for us whenever he gets a gig.

Mature Maurice will do that work for us in a midfield role one day. We just don't know yet how often. And when.

Maurice Rioli junior is an incarnation of himself, nothing like the royals who preceded him except in his sovereign right to differ.

I believe, Young Maurice is the Warrior King. Or, at least, will be. We've seen what his nephew can do.

Actually Maurice Jr is Daniel's uncle, not the other way around.
Well, not even"uncle" really. Daniel's father, Bradley, and Maurice Jr are first cousins.
So they are, technically, "first cousins once removed".
Despite being five years older, Daniel is one generation lower down in the family tree than Maurice Jr.

Thanks 23.
