Maurice JNR

Maurice wasn't quick either,it's their amazing agility that made him so good.

And lightning reflexes. He played like his brain was 5 seconds ahead of the ball and he read the ball so well.

His agility was something else. Unbelievable ability to baulk his opponents without even looking like he was doing it.

Yes, he hardly had to move and oppo players were hypnotised. I remember one game he was surrounded by three of them - he took a few little steps, dropped the hips, they all went in different directions and he walked out of there. It was like watching an aikido master throwing people around with no effort at all.

He was also very strong. He seemed to shrug tackles at will

I hope he doesn't come out and slay them next year, just play his role on the low.

Oh OK, just some little flashes here and there but not too many ;)

What competition/team is Jnr currently playing in & does anyone have his stats for last season?
He's at Scotch College so he will mostly be playing for them in the APS competition. He will play for Oakleigh Chargers when he isn't playing for school. And if he makes the Allies he will play in the u18 national carnival.

Have no idea whether young Maurice is going to end up a good footballer or not & think expectations of the young lad need to be tapered but couldn't help but be struck by the photo in last night's Ch7 news report.
Doppelganger of his Dad. Good luck to the kid..Jnr Screen Shot 2019-11-08 at 8.48.57 am.jpg

Even if MRJ isnt good enough, we could debut him on The G against Gold Coast and he'd pay for a rookie contract with the extra gate.

He has a bigger ass than his dad but will be taller , Met Dan Rioli a few weeks ago and he said that MRJ was nearly the same height as Daniel is now also mentioned he is a mad Tigers supporter and when i asked him what he needs to improve - Speed and tank

great story on RFC of Benny Gale paying his respects at Maurice's grave with the premiership cup.

what a club

I have read quite a few posts on other sites suggesting he is not going to be AFL standard, but FWIW, my brother has lived in Darwin for many years and reckons MR jnr will be a gun. Has watched him, like many Territorians, coming through the ranks and reckons junior is as good a prospect as any he has seen.

Junior is not fast, but my bro reckons he is one of those players who hits top pace in a few strides. Very well balanced runner who glides along the ground. Thinks the tank will come with the right training in an AFL program.

Same brother told me that while he was exceptionally skilled, he thought Tambling might struggle with the physicality of AFL when we first drafted him.

He's the son of Maurice, we have to at least give him a shot. Christ, we gave Tommy Roach a chance.

Most here didn't see Dan as a first round pick, but he's delivered for us.

We just have to give him a chance. Our club is all about family mateship and doing it for each other. Given the esteem that Maurice is held with in the club we have no choice. Personally I would back him in to be a very good player.

and although thats not true DA as he does well in the season, come Sept2017 he delivered like a TNT semi packed full of Christmas gifts.

2020 draft picks are worth just about nothing after the 1st round and there is no chance you want to risk not taking a Rioli and having it come back to bite you in the 455.
