It's a lose-lose situation, so why would you do it?

They can nominate a certain salary they want, but if they start telling clubs they won`t play for them then that would be classed as draft tampering.

Sure they can;t say they won't play for a certain club. But when you are interested in a player you gauge their desire to play for you, and if they are not keen, that is a negative you have to consider when making your recruiting decisions. Like I said maybe McCarthy isn't too fussed after all, thus the reason Port continue to show strong interest.

This. Care factor is low. Having said that my care factor was low on Bachar last year and he turned out for the better.

Agree. Disappointed we went so early with Maric, not sure someone was going to take him away from us.
 
I can see Maric is going to be a star. Craig hates his recruitment as much as he hated Houli's last year.
