Lynch !!

Well he has 3 years left after this year. Starts next year as a 30yo so obviously his best is behind him. List-clogger? Other than Balta who else of Lynch's class do we have as potential key forward material? Cupboard is pretty bare. Any youngster we might (hopefully) pickup will take 2-3 years to mature.
He'll get games because of his contract, when he provably shouldn't. By list clogger, I fear that his contributions will become fewer and less meaningful to the team. Given the way he is moving, I can't see the big fella becoming any more agile or quicker in the final years of his contract.
I guess that's the price you sometimes pay for pouring all endeavours into winning flags.

Until others stand up and do better then he's not a list clogger imo. Might happen in his last year or 2. Yes, the price to pay for wanting to win premierships when in the window of opportunity. Could be worse, could have paid $7mill for Grundy until he's 33. Or Tim Kelly to help them finish last on the ladder.

Oddly he seemed to be behind the ball for a 5-10 minute period. Reckon he'd be a gun CHB.

Not sure you can blame Lynch for intercepts, there's always a second opponent coming across his line and our delivery leaves a lot to be desired. I disagree that he played from behind all day. But yes he probably ends up behind more than you'd like. Frees? Well it was 33-13 and he doesn't get the leeway for using his hands that someone like Hawkins gets.

If Lynch is often behind as he is being double teamed, then surely our mids should be kicking it over the defenders. If we could deliver the ball to his advantage then the opposition defenders would have to change their tactics. As it is, we kick it on top of his head and watch Lynch get double teamed and unable to take a mark. If we kicked it to his advantage, which may mean behind him (this could be planned ahead), he would have more opportunities.

Or here’s a radical suggestion or 2 or 3
1. Look for our loose man
or if they play a +1
2. Tell JR to keep separation, if he doesn’t, drag him until he learns to
The same goes for the headless chook George. Keep away from Lynch’s run
3. Get some small forwards in who have a football brain, to provide options.

Lynch has been 7 out of 10 this year I reckon. But apart from Shai our crummers have been zilch. I'm sick of nothing on the ground around the goal area after our big forwards are swamped. terrible poor game plan/ coaching

Exactly! There's ZERO crumbers. George is working up the ground and our resting mids are useless.

Lynch almost always makes a contest, but the opposition just walk it straight out.

Time for MRJ?'

Bring back Stack for that exact role.

This. Our crumbers are out of position every time. Whenever Tom gets the ball to ground our smalls are always on the wrong side.

We need to start playing small forwards (skilful forwards not Jack Graham) and keeping them in the forward 50, or tactic of pushing a hff up on to the ball in not working anymore.

Tom also needs to at least attempt to play in front.

Lynch and Riewoldt can't play another game together in our F50.

If one has to go this week, it should be Lynch.

Slow, dumb, disinterested.

Here's how I would set up with Grimes returning and Balta going back where he belongs:

Lambert Gibcus Stack
Bolton Riewoldt Baker

Skilled, ferocious, x-factor galore, space, excitement

Lynch, while not helped by our poor midfield and the atrocious delivery into the F50, is becoming a liability.
Slow, cumbersome and inconsistent.

Lynch looked injured to me last year. Played in bursts at the start of matches, and after half-time. Couldn't jump and struggled to move later in quarters. Like a bloke who is getting injections to play. I've no idea what injury might be consistent with what I was seeing? A foot injury? OP? He doesn't look quite like that this year. Have they had to stop the injections, so now he just looks lack-lustre the entire match? Not sure. He still can't get off the ground.

just ineffective, KR

whatever the cause, he and Jack together are liabilities with ball on deck. something must be done about it.

Hands are tied to some degree. Whatever Lynch is playing with is something they can't do much with, that's why I suspected OP last year. Can't really bench him can they? Paying too much and we don't really have replacements we can slot in.

think i've said once before sometimes he waits around and looks at seagulls like the stoner from the movie 'The Club' ...

also tonight saw him with a dirty look on his face waving his arms at team mates a few times, when it was his work rate that was the problem and not their kicking
