Lynch !!

I reckon Lynch would be so much better with 2 other talls around him on the forward line. (Reiwoldt and CCJ/Chol). Means defenders can't drop off as easily. Look at the successful teams atm - Melbum - talls everywhere in forward line (McDonald, Brown, Weidmann) Geelong (Hawkins, Cameron, Ratagulea) Brisbane (Daniher, Hipwood, McStay) West Coast (Kennedy. Darling, Allen). Port (Dixon, Georgiadis, Marshall) Only us and the Dogs seem to be going with only 2. The other difficulty is we then push 1 (or even 2 at times) extra mids up from the forward line leaving only 4 forwards, way too easy to defend.

An extra tall forweard would also alleviate the workload from Nank who is going to wear out very quickly!
Yes, I'm tired of saying it. But Doggies were also playing the 'three-headed monsters' FL until English got concussion. They grabbed Martin from the Lions especially to free English up and allow him to spend more time forward where he can be hard to stop from clunking them at 205cm, and a decent kick. Once injured, even tried to replace him with Schacke but he failed again.

I reckon the 3 headed monster will only help us, we have, at times been great at getting out of the centre quick. We would have still been right in the game against the Cats, if not for 4 goals going wanting due to a fumbling tall.

He has looked off the pace and he does look a lot better when he moves more. Maybe he does need a break.

That said, I reckon we would be better with 2 rucks and the second ruck rests in the forward line and I would put CCJ in for that role.

I actually thought Tom Lynch's game was not that bad last week. Sure, went quiet in Q2 and 3, but Andrews is a top defender. Still some dropped marks but Lynch could have kicked 5/6, instead of 3.3.
Sure, I am a hard marker on his goal-kicking but he missed one of the easiest ones; later near misses left, then right for slightly harder ones. He should be good enough to kick them all. It's his highly-paid job. He is a very capable kick when he gets his technique right, from distance too.
Even if he kicked 6, we would still not have won. Our defence is being picked apart, formerly our strong point. But I liked that he held about 8 strong contested marks on Andrews. Good effort.
Just increase the goal-scoring %, Tom.

We got what we probably needed to do, albeit via injury. Lynch’s lack of mobility & inability to jump has been an issue for a while and with this news, perhaps it’s been injury related. In any case, our structure will be better as his replacement (CCJ I’m hoping) will be a bona fide second ruck. May expose Nankervis as an average forward tall when resting but that probably opens the structure door for Caddy.

If the tear is nice and clean and you get a good rehab going it can be as soon as 4 weeks before you are ready to go but with a big boy like Lynch I'd favour 6-8.

The only real concern comes if they get in there and find the damage is more significant and then it can easily become a 12-16 weeker. Given this seems like a degenerative issue as opposed to a moment in time injury, it should be pretty straight forward.
Yup
