Finding a lot of that. Jobs already 'shortlisted' an hour after being posted online, spending more time filling out recruitment agency paperwork than discussing what the actual 'job' that was advertised was about. Bloody frustrating.

Don't get conned by these pricks. It's best to research some employers and send cover letter and resume directly to them. It's worked for me in the past.

I've gone through so much *smile* with these agencies and even burnt a few bridges.....especially when I hear a consultant changing words on my resume for some *smile* reason!!

A lot don't say who their client is until/unless you get to the interview stage with the agency though.

Happy to get any tips. Might start a thread

Generally because candidate CV's are *smile*, and unless they're 'fixed' they will have no chance of getting a job. They are also often changed so that they better reflect the needs of the client, therefore giving the candidate a better chance of getting the job.

They won't do that because competitors often send in 'candidates' to fact find. Giving away details of jos they have on, may lead to them being filled by their competitors.

Agency paperwork these days is generally a result of Govt requirements for equality, and the threat of litigation by unhappy candidates. Agencies get held to ransom by both clients and candidates - bureaucracy is a nightmare. Most consultants would love to be able to just 'find you a job', but unfortunately red tape and 'rights' have created a minefield.

Keep on the phone. Online job boards are so automated, consultants never even know who you are. There are so many CV's uploaded onto them, even by people not really looking for work, it's pot luck whether your CV gets seen.

Find a couple of decent consultants and build a relationship with them. Let them get to know you and try to work with them.

Remember, they want to find you a job - that's how they make their money.

Are/were you a recruitment consultant?

Resumes should only be adjusted only AFTER a consultant tells/asks the candidate. I heard nothing from this Brummie Gen Y prick who was only in this country for 6 months and who had no *smile*ing idea of who companies were in Melbourne. This tampering with the resume ended up on me stuffing up in an interview when I was asked 2 questions I couldn't answer, and was later accused of lying on my resume. Another case 2 years ago, was when I was offered a job, the agency needed a 2nd reference to confirm everything, only to find out from the company's HR that I didn't get that job because they waited too long for the 2nd reference to go through. This was because when I gave the agency contact details of the 2nd reference, they took 2 weeks to email (not call!!!) the reference form for my 2nd reference to complete. There are many other pathetic faults with these agencies.

Parking tickets, especially when I'm volunteering for something. How does one go about getting out of one copped at Mantello Holden Oval?

Volunteering wouldn't be any defence. Did you actually breach the parking restrictions?

Ill-mannered sh!tbags at the footy. Tonight at the MCG, I was sitting on the aisle, and this old Swans supporter in the row needed to get in and out around 15 times in total throughout the night. No issue with needing to get up to go somewhere, though do you think once he said excuse me and thanks mate or thank-you any of those times? Not once. How hard is it?? Felt like knocking the prick out after the 5th time...

What the *smile* is the matter with some people....

I'd have said tongue cancer...having to get his tongue cut out making it impossible to utter two words would be the only excuse.

That little fist punch the players seem to be doing at the moment.

You mean after kicking goals? Goal celebration has certainly gone up a notch this year. Fremantle have always been over the top

People who when driving and going into a carpark think it ok to run you as a pedestrian over as you walk along the footpath also morons who cross the road a few meters from a pedestrian crossing how bloody hard is it to walk those extra couple of meters and cross safely and even more so if you have kids with you.
