Leon Cameron Retires

I take it that was the press conference alleycat?

Well done Leon, some great years of service to both the Dogs and the RFC, and the right decision to give it away.

Congratulations on a fine career.

Onya Leon. Was a pleasure to see such a skillful player running around in a Tiger jumper. A bit of a rarity in recent times. Not many have such even poise on both sides of their body.

Leon is proof that there is room for recycled players in the team.

It's just a matter of the club being good enough to pick the right ones.

I'd love to see Leon as skills coach at Richmond.

Enjoy your retirement Leon, you've done the game proud. :)

I for one is dissappointed that Leon Cameron is retiring.

He gave us great service and had the best skills out of all the Tigers.

I just hope Richmond appoints Cameron is some sort of role. Referably skills coach. Its about time we have someone develop with the kids with exprience, Leon is the man.

Thanks for great service Leon, every game you played, you gave 100%.

End of the road for Cameron

Richmond veteran Leon Cameron has announced his AFL retirement.

Cameron will play his 256th and last match for the Tigers against Hawthorn at the MCG this Sunday.

He began his career with Footscray in 1990 before joining Richmond in the 2000 season.

Cameron said he had no regrets from his playing career, other than the fact he did not play in a premiership side.

However he came close on several occasions, being part of the Bulldogs side, which lost preliminary finals in 1992, 1997 and 1998, as well as the Richmond side, which lost the 2001 preliminary final to Brisbane.

Leon made a great contribution to the RFC. He added some badly needed polish and leadership. Hopefully we'll hang on to him in some capacity as his football brain is one of the best. It's good to see a player know when the time is right and not wait for club to make the decision for him.

Well done Leon.

Sorry to see him go. I will never think of him as a bulldogs player, always as a Richmond player even though he was only with us for a short time. I hope he sticks around, but then we don't have a good record of keeping people who have something to offer the club.

I hope the Richmond faithful turn out on Sunday to give him a fitting farewell.

Wonder if there will be any more announcements of retirement this week?

another retiree that went one year too many!!! These decisions should have been done last year, so the club can move forward!!!

In saying that, he was an absolute gun for us since coming from bulldogs and a worthy receruit!!! ONYA LEON!!!!

2 down 10 to go!!!!

Yeah, Leon, what the others said (except for Frawleyudud). Didn't even mind you playing for Doggies, you proved that a player doesn't have to resort to sly whacks, etc. Preferred you in the black & yella, but.
Hang around, the ride's about to begin!

Congratulations to Leon on a superb footy career both at the doggies and at Richmond. Your class, silky skills and the way you played the game will be sadly missed.

If you were happy to see Leon running around in a Richmond jumper I think it would be appropriate if you sent an email off to him at the club thanking him for his 4 years of service.

But I am sure a few of you have already done that :p

One of their shinning lights as far as recruiting goes......it saddens me that there is still no press conference for that dud Kellaway.....if Cmaeron goes and he stays on it is a joke.

Good on you Leon. Would like to see you a skills coach and hope you stay so as to prevent the Saints troika of Spud, Buckets and Burkey running the show.

Congratulations Leon on a fine career. you have done yourself and the two clubs proud, but you now forever be remembered as a Loyal Tiger servant.

The club should have followed this up with an announcement that Leon would be taking a role as skills coach/player development officer.

Would be great for the young guys around the club to inherit some of his professionalism. He also has the footy smarts which couldn't do anyone any harm.

Congratulations to Leon Cameron on a wonderful career. I used to admire him when he played for the Bulldogs, so was glad to have him in a Richmond jumper.

His efforts in 2001 contributed greatly to the Tigers making the finals that season.

Have a great last game Leon. Well done.
