Josh Caddy

We reinvented him once.
I expect the same for next year.
we are known for reprogramming players.

He’ll be needed as our only KPF in the 2s.
We literally have no one else
Season 5 Nbc GIF by The Office

Cadddy was played, when he did play, mainly on the wing, which is not his best position by a long way.
He was most effective in the past up forward, where he took some good grabs and kicked a few good goals.
Not too sure where he is best suited these days but at 29 he still must have a few years left in him.

IMHO Caddy has been one of the few mistakes Dimma has made , I believe we persisted way to long with manic pressure forwards in Aarts and George in front of the more classic midsize forward in Caddy , still think the best pressure in footy is putting goals on the scoreboard and that’s what caddy’s capable of way more then the other midsize/small forwards
Agree. That mistake was absolutely huge for us and part of Dimma's refusal to adjust to the fact that the stand rule had fundamentally changed the way the game is played.
As KB described the stand rule has resulted in 17v18 in all kicking following a mark or free, situation. Just as big a change as ... can't think of any short of maybe taking away altogether, the handball rules?

Caddy as a footballer has many qualities, but he is just too slow and with zoning falling apart his lack of effectiveness when called on to defend, comes at a significant cost.
Also part of the reason why our recruitment this year must focus on mids with both speed and delivery, and which for all their other qualities, is likely to leave Mitchell and JO where they are.

Don't really see Cadds playing senior footy next year.
Doesn't have the pace for a wing or link up flanker role. Can't see much forward role for him with Jaaack n Lynchman as the KPP backed up by Dusty n Shai as the mercurial forward / mid types n he lumbers a bit too much to replace Georgie or Faartsy.
Do we have a Capitano yet for the magoos?? With Cadds experience n physical presence he might be a perfect fit for helping bring the youngsters through their formative years at VFL level for a couple of seasons.

Start the pre season with him playing to his strengths and that’s as a deep clever , sharp shooting forward , fact is our forward line was poor last year . If Caddy dosent make the 22 so be it however imho hes best footy is a# forward so start him there and if he isn’t up to been best 22 so be it , too limited re pace to try and re invent him again

All we need is an injury to Jack or Tom and we may well need Cadds TM.
The captain in the vfl won’t be an AFL listed player.

Since when has caddy shown he has a tank like lings? Or an ability to tag?
Caddy best position is as a forward, I'd have him there ahead of Aarts. I'm just trying to find a spot for him, Dimma doesn't tag anyhow.

I think he is cooked but it is surprising that he hasn't ever been given another more protracted crack at playing a deep or permanent forward.

Agree, just a few short of kicking 50 goals a few years ago.

Well, he's there as depth if we need him.
Otherwise, if he dominates the lower level then he may well force his way to a promotion.

I've always wondered about the dynamics with Josh..... appears really tight with Dustin, who in turn appears pretty tight with the coach, but it doesn't look like that circle gets completed.
Mind you, I have absolutely no idea who loves who at the club.

*25 odd years ago I was on a building site with one of Josh's brothers (think there's around a 15yr age gap)
His biggest issue as a young fella was taking orders and focusing on the task at hand.... and *smile* he fired up... not in a good way...... if he was given a rocket. I dunno..... genetics maybe?

We know Caddy is a bit slow for the midfield ,so l don't know why the MC just don't play him forward .
He kicks goal and he's a smart player ,we need player's who can convert a score ,we get the ball down the forward line enough, but we just cough it up.

Possibly, but there's no rule anywhere that says he can't be. It's our VFL team, not an affiliation. There's a heap of possible permutations regarding Cadds n his chances of getting back into the seniors or not.
Simply a thought that as he's on our list for next year, what's the best possible way to utilise as much of his overall capabilities as possible.

Saul ?, was on our supp list many moons ago.

Violent man on the ground & by all account a *smile* bloke

He'd be as slow as Townsend but smarter, so why not reinvent him as Terminator 2 and use him to take out the intercept marker?

No there is no rule that says we can’t have Caddy as vfl skipper but we just have never done it before.
The other thing is that it needs Caddy to acknowledge he isn’t an AFL player and he may not be ready to do that.Maybe the club isn’t either
