Jack Riewoldt [Merged]

With or without the broken thumb he was rubbish tonight.
That miss in the first qtr started his poor night and then it ended with his 3 attempts to pick up the ball on the half forward line that ended up turning into a Carlton goal.
The media is waiting to push him over the cliff.

And Balta.

On Jack, he wasn’t great and he’s clearly not the physical player he once was but his footy brain is peerless. I’d be amazed if he doesn’t contribute this year.
He is probably the smartest player I’ve ever watched but tonight he has 3 shots on goal and gets too close to the man on the mark and misses very gettable goals.
Sign of a player who is concerned with his kicking leg

Surely a broken thumb gives him a pass for tonight. Must have happened in one of his first contests he was involved in as he did go off injured early in the game but returned quickly after. Probably got a jab or two to get him through the game.

Ha :mhihi

Like clockwork.

The champion will prove his doubters wrong for the millionth time. He just needs to pull his thumb out of his ass, that's all.

Its never a good time to lose a champ,

but a few weeks off for JR could have the silver lining,

of giving Notorius Noah Balta room to move

The superstar was terrible tonight. First kick to him in the pocket on the lead, he was as slow as a wet week.

Doesn’t want to bend down anymore. Lots of kicks off the ground. Slow reflexes.

Last year for the champ.
Leading patterns non-existent. He was never quick but his repeat leads always outsmarted his defender. He didnt do this at all all night but instead elected to wrestle with his opponent.

Yep. Good summary there Bonking Faces. He’s treacle slow at times now. Getting caught a lot. He also doesn’t back into, or stand his ground in pack situations much anymore either. Still has a bit of a leap …but otherwise.

Ah the champ’s been great and time catches up with all players. No reason for anybody to get too critical or get into him. It’s just the reality of matters.

Pretty sure he’ll still throw the odd decent game in anyway if he’s healthy, but this year is definitely the last hurrah.

Great opportunity to get this forward half clicking , I would have preferred Jack to have hung up the boots , however he’s no doubt earnt the right to play on. I’m a Balta back man, however now is the time to play him forward with Lynch , play Biggie, Miller, Gibbo , whoever with Tarrant down back and go the 2 tall forwards , I’d still have the rucks spend a little time down there , I think Stack or Clarke are musts in the forward half , really like Dusty forward more too with Shai more midfield ( rotating) I’m not against Caddy playing inside 50 .

Stack Lynch Martin

Jack was finished as a player last year. He was too easily shut down due to his lack of pace which even his great footy brain couldn’t overcome.
Kicked his goals in patches but had many quiet games.
Testimonial year for he and Cotch this year.

I thought

1. Jack was playing a new role - he seemed to be front and square at the foot of alot of contests

2. Retiring the smartest forward in our team off after round 1, is patently absurd.

Jack will kick at least 40 goals this year if his thumb surgery goes well, plus 10 goals in September.

Whats the alternative? Jake Aarts?

The alternative was CCJ but we know where the club's loyalty was. He had none but you can't blame him.

We reap what we sow.

Have never seen Jack fumble the ball so much, has had more of them tonight than all of his career.

But he's a champion, he'll lift in the 2nd half, we need him too.
Apologies to Jack, I wasn't aware that he had broken his thumb.

Played all 22 games last year, kicking 51 goals. Averaged 2.3 goals per game in a side that ultimately finished 12th. Had exactly one game where he failed to kick a single goal.

Not bad for a player that was “finished”.

Yes, rumours of Jack’s ‘demise’ last year have been greatly exaggerated.

I don't understand?

are you suggesting playing triple premiership champion CHF Jack Reiwoldt,

over lazy, overrated, galloot Coleman Jones?

produced a failed crop?

jeez.

should Dusty be moved aside for Jack Ross in this strange world view?

prognosis?

haven't seen anything, but I reckon would have been scanned Friday and booked in for surgery Monday, when swelling abates?

Jack has good pain tolerance and recovery.

3 - 4 weeks is my guess/hope
