Ivan Soldo

Could you see ok ?
Actually it seems that Mr and Mrs Soldo saved all the good stuff for Ivan when he was conceived. The others were all normal sized, unlike Brad Ottens sister Shelly who is pretty tall. She struck up a conversation with me in a pub one night by giving her name. I straight away asked if she was related to Brad Ottens (he'd just crossed to Geelong that summer). She said no, and i then proceeded to reel off his history ie time in NT, coming from SA and other stats and she goes "OMG, you're not one of those footy stalkers are you"?

I said "Yeth - do you want a date"?

Thats didn't go well.

Watched the replay last night for the first time properly and Soldo was enormous in that game, the best ruck game I have seen since, since ....................... grigga :)

Agree this storey has gone under the radar for sure. Question, is Soldo the best young developing ruck in the league at the moment?
He could be. Maybe that guy from Adelaide. Can’t think of his name ..O’Brien ? The guy who kept Jacobs out.

Hats off to Soldo who came across and seemed interacted genuinely with everyone.

The more I hear and see of Ivan the more I like him...... he appears totally invested in the club and how we operate. Don't know him from a bar of soap, but he comes across as such a humble and respectful fella.

I can only speak for myself in saying I never thought he'd make the grade. Probably proves that the majority of us supporters don't really have a clue what's going on behind the scenes.

It's a testament to both our development system and his personal drive to be where he's at right now and I'm looking forward to this year and beyond...:)

I didn’t think Soldo would get there either. I think he filled in for Nank once in 2017, we did win , but I said thank God Nank is coming back, because this bloke can’t do the job.

He's our no.1 ruck and reckon Nank will find himself in and out of the team depending on match ups.

Hope he keeps the mo as it really suits him.

I seem to remember that a few years ago only big Ivan thought that little Ivan would make it at AFL and he has been proven right. Now little Ivan has gone one better than his cousin and got himself a premiership medal.

The number one ruck spot is his for the taking

Will be interesting to see if he takes it or happy to be number 2

His problem is if he chooses the later than CCJ May pass him bye very quickly

There are stories that when Ivan MKII first arrived at the club Mark Williams had to teach him how to kick, because he had no idea.

I can't understand the hype about CCJ he is not as good in the ruck as Soldo and his kicking for goal is cringeworthy.

CCJ is going to be a good ruckman but still has a bit to go.

CCJ will be a gun, sooner than later.

Gee, that must have set him back in development terms a couple of years easy.

Thought this was pretty common knowledge. Played basketball, wasn't really interested in AFL and only ever played a bit of kick to kick with mates

Best ruck potential youngster I've seen at the club for a while. Is only 20. His only game at AFL level he had 13 disposals, 7 contested from just 63% game time. Yeah they weren't great disposals overall but he has immense talent.

Very smart and quick minded in congestion.
Has a football I.Q.
Very rare for a ruckman

I don't think enough is made is of the moustache.

Clearly it was the catalyst for his form jump. Sent shivers down the spine of the opposition ruckman. Rovers wouldn't go near the ball.

Word got out that The General was back!

Loved how Ivan took himself off against Geelong with the blood rule. According to the commentators it’s was a smart move to slow the game down.
Wish dumb Francis Bourke had thought of that when he continued playing with a broken leg
