Ivan Soldo

Around the ground he did a little bit of everything in small doses (an intercept mark in defence, an almost contested mark I50, a chase down tackle for HTB, a spoil on the goal line, a mark/kick during a simple link up play, and a crunching bump).

Hitouts to advantage provided almost zero benefit to the team 5 seconds after he performed each action. Will post more later

Interesting conundrum. His ruckwork was great but McEvoy did go off. Nevertheless some of tap work was really good.

The downside is we don;t get as much as Nank offers around the ground

McEvoy getting injured was a godsend. Soldo was great as a tap ruckman which I expected he would be but only 8 disposals, only 2 in the 2nd half. Ceglar had 26 disposals and 8 marks. Not sold but he's the best we have currently in Nanks absence.

Think he would get destroyed by Grundy type but I have to say his tap work is some of the best I've seen this year from a ruckman.

Was very good, but McEvoy was clearly laboured and Ceglar is a spud. Want to see more of him (and as have said a number of times, want to see him and Nank together but I reckon Balta's emergence probably nixes that).

As others have said was fine today after Big boy went off, think he will really struggle playing mobile rucks..

Looked good, yes, a way to go, but the centre clearances were much better for us today. That was a nice contribution. Nank is out for a little while, let's see how Soldo goes with a few games in a row.

He can work on his around the ground work, I'm sure he will.

Looked great at the ground. Felt like the first time this year we were owning the centre clearances.
we won clearance 36-26 around ground inc cbd , been a while since we ve had that diff

Well it’s settled Ivan I must break you soldo is a better tap ruck than nank just needs to work on his around the ground game but gave our mids first use dusty/Prestia/cads/vlas loved it

We won the clearances comfortably, he did a good job. His work in the centre was the best I’ve seen from us this year. We had clean ball

Please do, kid.

I hate DE numbers and HOTA numbers equally. But big numbers inform.

I can't remember the clearance numbers at 3/4 time but we were dominating, particularly centre clearances.

The HOTAs were 15/3 our way. I don't think I've ever seen numbers like that Richmond.

Soldo dominated the taps. Whoa.

In the marking contests Little Ivvy was off a bit IMO. He wasn't spoiling and he wasn't getting in the way. But in his ninth game Little Ivvy changed our whole game dynamic.

If Little Ivvy can improve week-by-week over the next seven games Nank doesn't get back in.

need a hybrid - The versatility of Nank, the tap work and height of Soldo. Once Soldo starts to pluck a few in the forward line then his value goes up enormously.

man all he needs to do from here
build a better tank
mark the ball more

He changed the dynamics of our center work, gave Dusty some nice taps.

To all those knockers a bit of humble pie is in order.

Great game Ivan.

i don't think we lost anything in the centre circle yesterday. in fact, we may have gained some going by the clearance stats.

We are entering an era where the team will be set up to help exploit the natural gifts that god has given Noah balta.

On this point Soldo shapes as being a better piece in our team when combined with Balta .

Balta + Solda > Balta + Nank

On this basis Nank should be nervous as our clearance numbers where off the charts yesterday, and the big reason for this was Soldo in and Nank out.

Very interesting times.

Gets a fine for his bump??? Hawthorn player got up so I dont think there is a suspension there. Christian will look at the Christmas fund and hell cop $1000 !!??
