Despite the admirable efforts of Rosy and co to get this site up and running and maintain some semblance of sensibility in posting, this message board seems to have once again denigrated to the point where its hardly worth posting here anymore.

It seems that threads eventually get abducted by those select few with just a single barrow to push. Even genuinely worthwhile threads inevitable become commandeered by the anti-Frawley/anti-Kellaway etc. faction, before inevitably ending up in a verbal slanging match between posters.

I actually passed on this site earlier in the year mainly due to the 'sameness' that was coming out of some of its regular posters. It got to the stage where I thought much of the negativity was stemming from the same person under different pseudonyms. The fact that this wasn't the case simply exacerbates my annoyance with such repetitive and mundane postings.

I dropped back in a couple weeks ago and found that it was as bad and as predictable as ever from some parties.

I guess when I started posting on this site and RoarPower a few years back, I was chasing some lively discussion with other Tiger fans, some sharing of opinions and rumours, be challenged with intellectual discussion, and maybe even the odd little titbit of info that would not normally crop up in the wider media from those with a contact of some sort on the 'inside'. And even more than occasionally I got my wish. It seems many of the quality posters of the board have now been pushed into the background. Oh well, nevermind ...

Thanks for the site Rosy and co. I hope I'm not sounding too petulant or pretentious on this matter. It just doesn't seem worth wading through much of the rubbish here nowadays to find genuinely interesting posts.

Hopefully I'll bump into a few of you on the BigFooty board, where I'm prepared to run the gauntlet of the trolls from opposition clubs ... maybe even drop back to put in some match votes now and then.

If they upset you all so much, (and you know who they come from) then don't read them and just move on!

Personally when I comment on the team I try to give a fair assessment. I'll dish out compliments, and I'll dish out insults. But the insults are always half in jest and I presumed everyone else took them this way as well.

The last couple of days have really changed my opinion on that matter.

I understand what you say, but I actually love the comeraderie on this site.

I don't read Big Footy much anymore for personal reasons, but last time I was there I didn't notice the warmth and friendship on the Richmond board that is here, nor the Richmond info and goss.

To me the majority of people on this site are wonderful and I really enjoy their comments.

This week has been exceptional for the amount of stirring though.

A couple of the people are funny, but a couple of wannabes are more rude than anything else.

Some people actually like to have conversations on threads without them being ambushed with irrelevant crap like has happened all this week. You just might have found it a bit hard to see that this week.

Still Richmond will get on track soon hopefully and sanity will prevail.

It's up to individuals if they want to be here or not but I certainly hope they all don't share the same attitude Ghost or I'll be left talking to myself. ;D

I guess it's bon voyage for now then. Hope you still drop by on your travels sometimes.

You miss the point John. It's not the negativity. I think we all suffer from that a tad at the moment. It's the mindless bagging. The same repeated comments on every single thread whether they are relevant or not.

They are impossible to avoid, and a lot of people aren't happy with it.

Noone expects everyone to say things are good when they're not, but some people have never once said a good word. Not only that they insult and critisise people who try and post anything decent.

Anyway it won't be happening for much longer.

Well I speak for myself here, but I find the likes of FUD, Diggler, Laff, Harry, ILoveNewman etc hilarious.

Granted some of the things they say are repetitous (somewhat like the repitition of 20 odd years of failure we have had) but we all come from different angles. For instance Rosy, you are always mentioning how you like Dunc, I'm always mentioning how I love Cambo, and some are always mentioning how they think the club is heading in the wrong direction. Really, we all just repreatedly mention what we are concerned about re Richmond.

I must say if I didn't agree at all with the points Diggler, Harry etc. make I'd find them terribly annoying too, but surely those who find them annoying or boring can just turn a blind eye to their posts.

P.S. I also love the comraderie of this site too.

There are far more positive post than out way negative. We don't call our posts negative we call them facts. John, sadly Ghost took the course of action he thought appropriate...We've had several e-mails and messages this week from people who have a more positive approach and want to do something to make the site better for everyone rather than take the ball and go home.

Hopefully everyone can work together to make this site one people will be proud to be involved with.

I've had the (mis )-fortune to be message board/chatroom mates with Diggles and Laff for so many years now it makes me feel old to remember.

Unilke some of the wannabes I can't recall them ever once being abusive, attacking people personally or ever having to resort to swearing to get their point across. They just resort to their state of the art cutting edge wit. Geez what a worry. :-\ : ;D

Can't say i blame Ghost to be honest. I came over from another site because i thought the conversation in here was a little more witty and fun- which it has been- but the tendency for those with too much time on their hands to post on every thread about the same thing has got to a point where it is hard to trawl through all the posts looking for a bit of constructive and intelligent conversation.
I think Rosy does an awesome job of maintaining this site and also trying to control the user community, but at the end of the day, users have to show a little control too. If you've said it before more than once in any given week, then chances are we get your point- we are all on the same side here after all.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. That's one of the great things about being part of a democracy.

The great thing about forums like this is it gives all of us a place to voice those opinions on the one thing we all have in common - the Richmond Football Club. We don't have to agree on a everything and we don't as has proven time and time again. I think it is great. Imagine how boring this board would be if everyone posted the same thing.

I am all for debate I really am if people stick to the topics.

However, when things are degraded to a level where people are sniping and telling fellow posters to sleep with cows or other animals then the line has been crossed. Personal attacks are pointless.

We are allowed to disagree with on another that's what debate is all about.

Now I reckon it is fair to say Harry and I (hope it is alright to use you as example Harry) don't always agree but I don't think there has been one instance where Harry has attacked me personally or vice versa (hope you think that too Harry). Debate without gutter sniping

I suppose what I am trying to say - is keep the debate coming it's fun and it is what this board is all about but lets stop the personal gutter attacks.

A few questions;

1. Are you happy with the teams current performance?
2. Are you happy with the way the club has made no forward progress over the years?
3. Are you happy with the fact the club has a substandard playing list?
4. Are you happy that even by the recruiting managers criteria, we have had substandard recruiting since 1996?

Well, I know myself and many fellow posters would say no to all questions, thus driving the level of negative posts.

IMO, the overriding theme is we all want the club to improve, and what is wrong with highlighting the clubs shortcomings? Nothing.

If you want happy, loving posts go to Port Power and post there. Boring as bat *smile*, but at least a happy environment for you.

There is nothing wrong with highlighting our shortcomings, except when people repeat the same things over and over again. I've lost count of how many danny's a dud sack him posts I've read this week but it's gotten to the stage where it's beyond a joke.

It's ok when it's in a thread titled 'Danny's A Dud We Should Sack Him' (just for example ;D) but when people start taking over other threads that have nothing to do with the whole sack the coach theme it takes the fun out of posting on the message board. And it's also no fun when people get torn apart by some posters for saying something positive about Frawley. You may think Frawley deserves to be sacked but just because I don't think he should be doesn't mean I'm living in la la land and out of touch with reality.

It's great seeing all the varying opinions but when it gets to the point that the message board has reached this week, it becomes tedious and boring. And for those who say it's a message board I'm allowed to express my opinion especially in relation to the whole Frawley issue, we know what your opinion is we've read nothing else but your opinion for the last week so give it a rest and move on to new and interesting topics.

You can call me what you like but i LOVE my tigers!!!!! It is the only reason i am so outspoken and repetitive of my comments!!!!! When you see the same poor excuses and poor decisions made week in week out with no improvement you start to get a bit edgy!!!!! Im sick of pathetic decision making and excuses!!!

The reason im as hard on Frawley is the fact that barring a couple of players we have a very good list!!! A top four list!!!! Yet all i can see is this MAN taking us absolutely knowhere but back 10 years and by the time we act on it our list will have detiriorated beyond repair!!! Our senior players havent got many years left and our youngsters need to be taught a game plan and coached to develop both mentally and physically in their football capacity!!! This man SPUD is not doing either!!!!!! Thats the sole reason for my frustration and anger!!!!! Maybe others arent as passionate as me but i demand success and expect it after years of failure!!!!

Lets not wait any longer before we miss the chance to develop a premiership squad!!!!!

I wont stop posting anti frawley posts as i strongly believe he is not up to it!!!!!

He was a one dimensional player and an assistant coach of the wooden spooners!!!! Not exactly stats that make him a great coach!!! You yourselves are saying he is the only one who wanted to coach us thats why we got him!!!
