Is PC a euphemism for 'nice?'

The nuclear family is being attacked on multiple fronts. Don't feign naivety.

Strange, wherever I've been in the world I've seen nuclear families living their lives, blithely unthreated by the odd trans individual with pronouns listed on their social media. If you are threatened by what other people want to call themselves that's your own personal problem.

On the other hand you could be right and angry lesbians are set to take control of a global government at any moment

How about a pre-emptive strike and shut this one down too @Mr. T ?

in a post racially intolerant world, it'll get ugly in here.

Although seeing Lee wet his pants with conservative political correctness is always fun, probably a good idea.

Now you’re getting it. One of several fronts on which the west is being destabilised. The lunatics, if not running the asylum, are gaining control.

I’ll continue to call it as I see it - warped.
The lunatics indeed are running the asylum, and people are pretty tired of it. A bunch of sad old yesterday’s men taking care of their sponsors instead of the public interest. You’re right though, change is happening. It’s inevitable.

Fine. If you tell me to address you as "they", I'll shun you like a leper.

Aren't you the one trying to cancel peoples' options to be addressed by the title they choose?

I'm not cancelling anything. You're the one who's interfering by insisting that I change.

I'm just saying catering to it is completely *smile*. If you countenance it as normal then you're setting yourself up for your own problems down the track. It's unhealthy.

You are the one insisting on your view of the world being foisted on others, not me.

I'm not interfering, I'm just allowing others their freedom to choose how they are addressed.

Why do you want to interfere in other peoples' lives so much and tell them how they should self-identify? What is it to you?

I'm not insisting on anything. The status quo is what it is.

You don't get to dictate how you're addressed. That's my choice to make. And if you insist on "they", I won't be addressing you at all. You're too much hard work.

Of course, I should have remembered, can't disrupt the status quo. After all society and culture are static and never change.

Slow and steady wins the civilisation race. 'He' and 'she' have served us perfectly well for thousands of years. Throwing concepts born of mental illness into the mix is dangerous.

There's change for the better, and change for the worse...

So I presume you don't use the title "Ms" after all it is only a few decades old. Did you write "Master Lee" before you were 18 I wonder?

As for he and she, they are biological sex labels, I think you are looking for feminine and masculine which society ascribes to biological sexes and which have always changed over time and there have always been differences in different civilisations. How, for example, would you refer to a Eunuch?

Personal pronouns take a number of forms, in English "they" and "it" can be used as neutral personal pronouns and have been around for a very long time.

By the way, the pronoun she dates from about the mid 12th century so don't claim thousands of years, or should I say, do some bloody research.

In any case, who are you to tell other people how they should be addressed? Why do you want to denigrate their choice? Why do you want to control how they are addressed?

Haven’t addressed anyone as Ms since Year 7 English.

A eunuch is born male and is obviously a “he”. Same as a gelding at the track. Bit of a silly question.

Again, not Indulging or playing silly games with weirdos. I would just choose not to associate. Sue me.

I guess the answer to this thread is some folks aren,t nice.

Just call the person by their name and dont get your knickers in a twist about what,s in someone else's knickers.

There are billions of people in the world. I’m sure the “theys” can manage without my unsympathetic company.

I've always found 'they' an awkward pronoun to use, simply because when used in everyday speech, your brain tries to depluralise it.

But 'awkward to say' is the extent of how difficult or worrying it is. I can deal with 'awkward to say' if it's the difference between teens comitting suicide based on their gender identity, or not.

Good
I guess you can manage to suck it up without whinging or screaming, and let the billions of the world live their own lives
