Interesting Stats

I'd love to know the stats on Martin for hardball gets. This is the most important stat for my liking.

He'd have to be up there.

Lids, Martin and Newman in top 30 for long kicks (99, 72 and 67 respectively) not surprising seeing how Martin loves to bomb it - usually to advantage. Just another sign that Dimma is giving clear instructions and his troops are following them.

if Dimma manages to successfully re-introduce the long kicking game, or aspects of it, it's not just the Richmond supporters that will appreciate it :clap

Martin is 10th in 12 games with 71 HBGs. Ahead of him are Priddis, Watson, Ablett, Cassisi, Sandilands, Boyd, Hudson, Judd and Cornes. So for me, Martin is doing quite well at getting the ball.

What is the point of this comment? Rosy how much longer are we going to have to put up with this guy.

I reckon he should be let alone. He's getting more obvious the better we do. His desperation is showing through. He'll be a total nutcase if he's still around when we're really up and going.

I don't know why you bite Ian, just ignore him, eventually he'll go away.

Dusty leading the score assists is the most positive stat for me. Not only is he doing great in and under but he's disposals lead to goals more than anyone else in the team.

Bling not in the top ten for disposals is pretty poor, although a game short of the others.

Chimp's clearance rate is a joke.

Another B&F for Lids.

Gee thanks for posting that. There could have been a grave danger of it going unnoticed if you didn't point it out for us. :duh

There was a point to the comment. I apologise if it was taken as trying to create a stir.

My point, which I have made over-and-over, is that these stats are entirely meaningless when taken out of context. As indicators used by coaches to track performance they are usefull. As a snap shot of how the team is going they are entirely useless.

The evidence of this point, is that while they are on their own quite impressive, the result is not. It is in fact it is the worst performance by any team after 13 rounds - as evidenced by the most important statistical measure in AFL....

You've also tried to imply over and over that you are a Richmond supporter. When you finally come clean with all the facts maybe someone might give your points some consideration.

While you continue to claim to be a Richmond supporter, all of your posts will be taken as trolling.

I presume you mean its a joke how a 20 year old is so good at clearances?

I reckon Jack will have polled well over the last few weeks but Lids would be in front for the B&F for his work over the whole season.

If we had players who were number 1 in every category of the stats I would be more concerned regarding our ladder position - but as it stands I think it highlights that we are improving - which has been shown by our results over the last month.

Considering all the so called experts had us winning the wooden spoon and even a few weeks ago unlikely to win a game at all - I am very happy the way things have gone the past month.

The way it stands at the moment, we are a good chance to win more games and move off the bottom also.

Considering the turnover of players we had at the end of last season, I am a very happy tiger.

We are finally heading in the right direction, and will continue to improve as we get more games into the young guys.

how far in front his total is compared to the others and more importantly, crucially, wonderfully uses it well.

How long is it since we had that?

edit - To possibly have another in Martin is too good to be true. Sitting tight on that for a while!

Enjoyed watching the game, ball coming out of Richmond defence and the commentators saying,
'Tigers outnumbered ahead, will need to hold it up until players can get forward...........
(then we would kick long to white etc on a fast break, sometimes one against two, and the commentator would say something like)
'unless the Tigers do exactly that.....'

Loved it!!
Happened more than once.

Now I understand why Edwards is getting games and is talked about as one of the big movers in 2010.

Also Nason is riding nicely under the radar - keep up the good work.

One area to improve which the club has talked about is that we need at least 3 or 4 players to kick over 30 goals per year - need to get a move on in this area.

Qu: do these stats change if we look at effective disposals?
