Ian Campbell has resigned

I'm waiting for Hugo 'The Boss' to give us his opinion on this.

He knows what's been going on and can give us the inside story I'm sure.

Who sacked the marketing dept and employed Elite ? ::)

Yeah, Campbell.

I'm not so sure if it isn't the fact that arrangement (along with others e.g. gate sharing etc) seem to have all gone pear shaped and that these things have influenced his decision as much as anything.

There may have been director "influence" as well.....

No wonder the footy department cant operate properly. this means that any prospective coach would have 2nd thoughts about coming to RFC.

That's the real worry in all of this. When the club has tried to sell the message that we are stable at the executive level and a good employer over the last 4 years (primarily by hanging onto Frawley) - half the Board resigns and now this happens. No decent coach will touch us - again.

We are in trouble.

Yeah........I was thinking the same thing. Wonder if the gate sharing fiasco was Campbell's call.

There some serious problems down at the club that we will probably never hear or know about, but one thing for sure......if something is not sorted out at the top level we will be gone as a club.

Every business needs stabilty at the top and RFC can show the world the opposite. How can a man of Campbell's reputation and resume suddenly go........mind you I don't know the reasons he left Nike or the NBA but you really have to wonder what the hell is going on.

Maybe its the start of something or maybe its been coming for a while but I for one am getting really sick of this club putting up smokescreens as to where the club is heading and the financial position....

I will not be suprised at all when the dust has finally settled that when the great Jack Dyer left us so did the the RFC as well. :'(

Yes. That is what I was saying to a mate just then. Was it all his idea or did Casey and others have a whisper in his ear.
End of the day, the guy has spent most of his working life in America, I mean what type of back ground information does he have on the AFL, Richmond and football in general.
Not blaming anyone for the gate sharing fiasco or St Kilda Easter match... yet. But did he know what's been happening in the football here before he came?

I was at the Presidents Luncheon a couple of weeks ago where he deputised for the Suntan Kid - who was in the Bahamas, Northen Queensland, Phuket wherever......

Anyway, his speech was pretty ordinary. Rather than pass any interesting commentary about the club or the AFL in general like you are supposed to at those things, he just rambled on about our win the week before. He sounded like he was reading from a match report out of the paper. Less than impressive.

Having said that, he was at Punt Road on Sunday with his wife watching the magoos. He had a RFC turtleneck on and spent a fair bit of time chatting to Miller. So he seemed to have a genuine interest in our on-field performances beyond the seniors which shows he had a genuine interest in the well being of the club I guess.

I hardly ever saw Malone or Brayshaw at magoo matches.

For a CEO to resign a couple of things usually go down.

1. Major differences of opinion about the structure and philosophy in the operation of the club which cannot be resolved.

2. A lack of confidence in the CEO by the Board or viceversa.

Whatever the reasons it should never have come to this. Before appointing the CEO the Board should have settled on a mandate for the CEO and the limits of his responsibilities.

This is mis-management at its worst. On top of the other happenings at Board level this is just disastrous.

Dear o dear.
What will happen next week after a 100 point flogging.
Its funny how no one resigns after a good win!
No great loss.
They would of got the same amount of productivity if they appointed David Norman to do the job!!!
Do you know David do you??????????

What f$%&^* fiasco?, we MADE $100-150K more by ending the gate sharing.

Unless you are a fool who wants Richmond to give Collingwood money out of our pocket, then stop listening to their whingeing and bagging of Richmond for things we did right.

Yep. You are right Night Paws. And when there is such a high level of flux and disatisfaction amongst directors and off field executives, you've always got to start looking at the leader of the pack. And in our case, that means the Suntan Kid......

Can you explain to us DC why every other club still maintains their gate sharaing arrangements ?

So someone figured out that working at the RFC is different to working at Nike.

Takes a year to get rid of a dud CEO, but takes more than 4 to do the same with a dud coach.

I don't really understand there David. If it's cost us a revenue earning round one blockbuster and a share of Collingwood gate takings in future surely it isn't a wise decision for the long term?

You are kidding yourself David if ending our agreement with Collingwood was the right way to go.

Also the way it was done was very unprofessional.

The way that our club is being run is a disgrace

Well, well, well what a suprise ... Ian figured out it was a waste of time and energy attempting to turn the sinking ship around, ala the Titanic ...

Once they take the PRE knives out of his back ... at least they can be re-used ... there are many more on the PRE 'hit' list!

I wonder whether this is the first of many victories for the PREnders?

Absolutely Hungry ! In fact, I recently took advantage of a deal that was on tv for a sit-up machine that was...if you can believe it...also throwing in a set of free set of steak knives ! (I don't know how they do it !).

Anyway, I fugured I should get in because one set of re-usable knives is nowhere near enough weaponry to clean out the number of absolute duds that exist at RFC !
